The Israeli Left has changed. They want to tear the country today. Any one who reads biographies of Israel’s socialist founders can see they were a different breed of people: patriotic, sincere, hard-working and folks of a stripe who put the goals of the Zionist movement and the state above narrow partisan interests. Those days are gone and this explains in no small part the recent demise of the once mighty Labor Party that dominated the state’s politics for the first 29 years of its existence.
