The question 'Is conservatism a three-legged stool or not?' is incomplete...The controversy over the direction of the CPAC convention and the conservative movement presents a an opportunity to reflect on the basis of Christian citizenship. I suggest it is time for Christians who are concerned about the lack of recognition of a "family values" leg on a metaphorical three legged stool to find a better foundation for their political participation than the conservative movement.

...I affirm the classical Christian assertion that there is a law written on every human heart which can be known by the exercise of reason and should inform our positive or civil law. It is the foundation upon which a truly free society must be built. This is what has long been called the Natural Law. It is a participation in God's Law...Thank you very much for posting a very thoughtful article, tcg. It certainly made for interesting morning reading.

This article makes sense.
One of the reasons, the main one I think, to oppose giving license i.e. saying "it's OK" to homosexuality is love for homosexuals.
You don't want someone you care about to degrade their bodies which are a gift from God, much less practice things that would ruin their health and drastically shorten their life expectancy.
And that's leaving aside the most important matter of the soul.

Issues like this demonstrate the perils of having public policy dictated by a collection of amoral, mentally challenged prostitutes in the entertainment industry.
Hollywood and TV have had an insidious impact on the erosion of moral values in our society.

I don’t know if conservatism is a three-legged stool, but I’m pretty sure that liberalism is pretty much nothing more than a stool - a large, steaming one at that.

I have always maintained that fiscal conservatism and social conservatism are two sides of the same coin.
The social pathologies that are the inevitable results of social liberalism must ultimately have a negative impact on society's purse strings.
So any time someone pronounces themselves "fiscally conservative and socially liberal" we need to recognize a conflicted, and not overly bright, individual.
