Home schooling is a lot more effective than public schools which just goes to show how much of a disaster the public school system is in this country.

The public school system has become a laughingstock in our country and is responsible for the poor showing of ratings of our country as far as education is concerned.

Get rid of tenure, teacher unions and you will see an immediate uptick in grades and enrollments.

David Chard, Dean of the School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University, need not worry about my child’s social or coping skills. She is doing fine & better then if she were in school. She isn’t bullied, doesn’t have peer pressure & has plenty of friends. Best of all she isn’t getting sick all the time.

Many parents don't want to teach their children Socialism, Progressivism, Communism, Statism, Evolution, Political Correctness, Global Warming, Socialism, Progressivism, Communism, Statism, Shame of Patriotism, or anything else that the Feds want our kids to be brainwashed with.

Kids are learning a lot of foolishness, and less actual useful, helpful knowledge than ever before.

I hope most parents decide on home schooling.

My siblings and I homeschooled our children, now they are homeschooling their children. At a recent family gathering, with everyone in attendance, I looked at the photo and realized we were looking at 18 homeschooled kids (1st and 2nd generation.) Oldest one was 34, youngest one was 5.

What were the results, of our homeschooling:

The older first generation (22-34 years of age):
1 Pilot for a major airline
1 Structural Engineer (has P.E.)
1 Industrial Engineer
1 Business Process Analyst MIS grad w/masters
1 Real Estate professional in commercial and residential property
1 mom who homeschools her children and works part time (from home)
All of these are employed and have never been w/out a job...many graduated at a young age because we used dual credit programs at CC during HS years.

In addition:

1 in college w/full ROTC scholarship
2 18 and under working on their AA’s
1 20 year old w/AA and going for BA

The other 8 are under 12 and are 2nd generation being homeschool by their parents.

All are extremely conservative in their politics. None were swayed by college philosophy (however, I do find that business schools/degrees and engineering schools/degrees don’t contain a lot of liberal slant. The beauty of AA general ed at CC is that you do tend to get more conservative profs. Many History/Political profs they had in CC were ex military) Also taking general ed classes while they’re still living at home (i.e. dual credit) allowed us, as parents to discuss with them what they were learning and counter any “garbage”)

I was amazed because I had never thought of the impact that 2nd generation homeschooling is going to have on this country. Homeschooling will expand exponentially.

My wife and I home schooled my daughter and have never regretted it. If we can do it, anyone can. Abeka is an excellent curriculum and you have the freedom to add to it any personal choices you want.

She is now a senior at SFA and works as a deputy sheriff. When she graduates, she will be the first in my family, on either side, to have a degree. The straw man of the parents not being teachers is bogus. By the time they get to the age you can't help them, they should be self teaching anyway. If you are still having to "make" them do their work when they are 13-15, you have a discipline problem, not an academic one. Ask a junior or senior in school to show you how to do a geometry problem and see what a blank stare you get. My daughter knew her work and retained it while others were getting drunk and pregnant. Many have drug problems and drug arrests. Is this the socialization my daughter missed out on? She had friends and was able to connect to anyone no matter their age. Today's youth will projectile vomit if you put them with someone younger or older. They can't mix with someone not in their age group.

Public school is literally killing our children and destroying America. You may believe you can deprogram your child, but I haven't seen it so far. Many in my church were teachers and didn't approve of home schooling, but their children are now the ones with police records, unwanted children or abortions, broken homes, and anti social beliefs.

I have often asked my daughter if she regrets home schooling and she has always said she preferred it. She is glad that her education included things like patriotism, history, and the Bible. Public schools don't teach any of that. In fact, schools teach America is evil, God doesn't exist, and they can't tell you why we fought the Civil War or who George Washington was. They can demonstrate the proper way to put a rubber on a cucumber, however, and know the words to all the Lady Ga Ga songs.

I worked a blue collar job for SBC for 30 years and my wife gave up her job to home school. Many seem to think they can't afford it. I couldn't afford not to.

My advice to anyone even considering home schooling is to "just do it". I realize there are many problems out there, but ask yourself if your children are worth it? Public school is a meat grinder that doesn't care about your child. You can't pay someone to love your child. It takes hard work to raise a child and they won't do it. Waiting for the schools to get better is a pipe dream. We waited 12 years and it just gets worse.
