"No, I believe spousal benefits are reserved for married citizens as defined in our constitution."

Sarah Palin is against spousal benefits for same-sex couples

But she used her first veto as governor to block a bill that would have prohibited the state from granting health benefits to same-sex partners of public employees.”

So which is it?

the veto was in response to a court order. You know like the ones that Obama is disregarding and being held in contempt of court over. Palin said if AK wanted to deny same-sex couples the court said they would have to pass an amendment. She urged the AK state house to do just that and vetoed the bill on the grounds of it being unconstitutional as defined by the court.

The AK Supreme Court had ruled an equivalent law to be unconstitutional, so she was following her sworn constitutional duty. I like to see a chief executive follow the Constitution when it conflicts with his/her own personal beliefs.
