Anne Gebhardts kids are learning about geography -- in her dining room in Bedford, Texas. Its not your typical schoolhouse, but its one that Gebhardt says is serving her six children well. "We can teach our religious values to our children freely, says Gebhardt. We can teach anything that we want."
Gebhardt is part of a growing trend. Across the county, an estimated 1.5 million children are home schooled and that number's growing. In the span of eight years, home schooling has grown nationally by almost 75 percent.
The reasons parents choose to home school vary. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 36 percent of home schooled children stay at home for religious reasons.
Twenty one percent don't like the environment in traditional schools. Another 17 percent are home schooled because their parents are dissatisfied with the academic instruction thats available to them in traditional schools.

The Marxists have this now. Do a Google search on the words: governor summer camp.
You will see that many states have a summer program for the gifted. They are, in essence, liberal/Marxist indoctrination camps. Doesn't it just warm you heart that your tax dollars get to pay for the destruction of our nation?
Have you ordered and watched the Agenda Documentary yet?
The kids and I would take off for Costa Rica for 6 week stays. We attended language school and lived with Costa Rican families. We went there five times. The two younger kids finished 6 college credits in Spanish and they were only 12 and 13 years old!
I read of a homeschooling family that was visiting every state in the nation. Their son was an avid bird watcher.
I will check it out again to see if it can be seen through the Internet, or if it must be purchased.
Send the guy a note. He might make it available through something like netflix, etc.
He was very gracious with our church group.
Oftentimes, a “public viewing” requires a special purchase or license.
He just let someone show his personal copy to our group.
Of course, he then sold a whole bunch of them as a result,
and he’s got me on FR voluntarily evangelizing his work,
so it was a good decision for him.
Any Christian government teacher who has not been fired yet is also cooperating with the enemies of Christ. These so-called Christians are teaching children to think and reason GODLESSLY!! How can that be compatible with Christianity? It can't!
Christian teachers, if they **really** loved kids would be striving with all their might to close these godless indoctrination centers down! They would be working to rescue as many children as possible from the godless government temples ( misnamed "schools"). They would be pressuring their pastors to open Christian schools, organizing volunteers to work in them, and running tutoring centers to help homeschooling families.
Christian teachers who think that they can sneak in a little Christian belief into the godless swamp are merely teaching the children that Christians are sneaky.
Christian teachers who believe their example is making a difference are in a perverse way doing just that! They are teaching children that Christians will feed a godless worldview to kids in exchange for money, dental and health insurance, and a pension. They are teaching the children that Christians are hypocrites, and too timid to do what is right.
Unlike those Balkan villagers, they aren't even forced to do so, just hookwinked and beguiled to do so voluntarily -- "but OUR public school is DIFFERENT, you see."
It is Christian teachers who are doing the beguiling!!! We have them sitting my own church!
Christian teachers tell young and inexperienced parents that their classes are "different". Hey!... These Christian teachers are "sneaking" in a little dab, now and then, of Christian philosophy. Parents see sweet little Mrs. Christian Teacher ( who loves her cat) and wrongly believe that their local government temple of godlessness couldn't possibly be all that bad.
I didn’t teach my kids (three home school graduates) the times tables, either, and two of them went on to become engineers, one of whom just got accepted to Carnegie Mellon yesterday for graduate studies in electrical engineering. My third son is a Narional Merit Scholar who is studying to become a doctor. They all picked up their times tables quickly and easily just by doing math. So, no need to fret over someone not being taught their times tables. :-)
By the way, I never taught them spelling, either, and they’re all excellent spellers. They read a lot and they read good literature.
This is not to say that I wouldn’t have sat them down to learn their times tables or to teach them how to spell if they weren’t learning them. I’m just saying that you don’t have to teach them those things in order for them to learn them.
Me again....
I actually *did* did teach them penmanship and it stinks! LOL! Well, one of them has bad penmanship. He’s the one who wants to be a doctor. I guess it was an omen that I missed at the time. :-)
“Why have kids if youre not going to enjoy them?”
To wait on you? If they were in school all day who would bring me my ice tea and bon-bons? ;)
My kids learned to touch-type pretty early — three at age 7, one at age 9. They are now 12, 14, 25, 27 — and their handwriting looks like that of children 7 or 9 years old. OTOH, they type quite briskly, one attaining 130+ wpm.
Bet on it.
