“Clothes are just the thing that you wear to do the stuff you need to do,” first lady Michelle Obama told reporters who lunched with her at the White House on Tuesday.
The first lady — who was wearing a Marc Jacobs dress and silver pumps — was, not surprisingly, asked once again about her decision to wear a foreign label dress to the China state dinner in January.
“I like to patronize American designers, and the vast majority of the clothes that I wear are [designed by Americans.] But there are a lot of other designers that have cute stuff, too,” Obama said. “I don't think that I’m any different from any other woman, other than the fact that people see what I wear and then they talk about it.”

Honestly, I think Michelle, when she applies make-up, can look attractive....and there are times when photos of her dresses are attractive. But there is no doubt in my mind that the media “screens” the photos (just as they did with FDR, etc) for only the most attractive shots. She does not have a model figure and yet only the slimming shots are published. Contrast the choices of photos of Michelle with those of Palin...a truly beautiful woman. When she made the cover of Time, they had an extreme close-up that was of course less than attractive (but still gorgeous when compared to Michelle).
