Democrats Can't Filibuster ObamaCare Repeal
WSJ ^ | February 10,2011 | Karl Rove

Posted on 02/09/2011 5:16:25 PM PST by NCjim

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin likes to taunt his Republican colleagues, arguing that ObamaCare can't be repealed because 60 votes are required to end debate in the Senate on any measure.

Though Republicans will likely win control of the Senate in 2012, Mr. Durbin is right that they probably won't get to 60 senators. That would require the GOP to win back more than half the Democratic seats up next year. Rep. Jim Moran (D., Va.) recently called GOP promises of repeal "a political scam on their base. . . . It can't happen."

Not so fast. Keith Hennessey, a former White House colleague of mine, says Democrats are wrong. He argues that Republicans can repeal health-care reform with a simple Senate majority.

Karl Rove finally doing something useful? Well, as long as it works, who cares who came up with it?

REPEAL OBAMACARE!
Tune: "Marion" ("Rejoice, O Pilgrim Throng")

Repeal Obamacare!
Repeal, reject, undo!
Declare it dead and pull the plug,
Before the bill comes due.
Repeal! Repeal!
Repeal Obamacare!

The bill Obama signed
Would take a year to read,
But Nancy rammed it down our throats,
And so did Harry Reid.
Repeal! Repeal!
Repeal Obamacare!

Now watch our health care costs
Rise high and higher still;
Obama spreads the wealth around
And makes us pay the bill.
Repeal! Repeal!
Repeal Obamacare!

Repeal, and do not fear
Obama's veto pen;
And when he sends back what we pass,
We'll pass it once again.
Repeal! Repeal!
Repeal Obamacare!

Repeal Obamacare!
Repeal, reject, undo!
And come November 2012,
Repeal Obama too!
Repeal! Repeal!
Repeal Obamacare!

The ObamaCare fiasco was passed with the improper use of reconciliation. It will be poetic justice that it be repealed with the proper use of reconciliation.

Reconciliation, Deem and Pass.....it was all the rage when they were going to use it for passing this monstrosity. Bet we’ll hear all about how archaic and Draconian it is, now.

It looks to me as if just one judge with cajones did the job by himself.

It takes no votes if the republicans leave it out of the budget and don’t fund it. But I think the republicans are to busy reading cragslist to get it done.

"Last week on his website, KeithHennessey.com, he made the case that congressional Republicans could use the reconciliation process to kill ObamaCare with 51 votes in the Senate and a majority in the House of Representatives."

ROFLMAO !!! HOW SWEET !!!

"Mr. Durbin is right that they probably won't get to 60 senators.

I beg to differ, Mr. Durbin has NEVER been right. 23 Dems up and three have already announced they are not running, Lieberman, Conrad and Webb. KBH is the first RINO to make the same list.

Nine other Pubbies are on the list that includes Lugar, Snowe, Brown, Coker and Hatch. The others up are Kyl, Wicker, Ensign and Barrasso. Its not so much that 60 is attainable but more to the point is how many new Senatros will be conservative or Tea Party approved?

Oh I hope he is right. They did some wacky stuff to get this damn thing. I say we can do whatever we can to repeal it.

When we get another President in, Obamacare will be overturned.

Until then, it will be defunded.

“Democrats cannot complain if the GOP uses reconciliation after Democrats used it to pass ObamaCare through the Senate.”

Mr. Rove should know his Democrats better than to make a statement like this. They’ll say or do ANYTHING to try and score political points or put spin on an issue.

Bullshit! The only thing a Democrat cannot do is something that is good and decent.
