Others have commented: The USPS routinely crosses out the 44 or whatever the number is, when depicting stamp designs in the media. It looks like this is a 44 cent stamp. (No matter; I would keep using it in case of an increase, with makeup stamps added.)

There was a story about this a few weeks ago & the postal service said it would be forever
