Teen girl killed
A robbery at a Northwestside liquor store went awry recently and ended with the shooting death of a female suspect and the arrest of three accomplices.
Trachelle Robinson, 17, Indianapolis, was sitting in a car and was shot in the neck by a stray bullet from the gun of one of her accomplices, who had exchanged gunfire with a clerk at a liquor store in the 3600 block of Lafayette Road.
Three suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. Being held in the Marion County Jail are Tia Washum, 25; Jeramie Seabury, 21, and Tymon Brown, 23, all of Indianapolis.
Homeless man slain
Donnell Dennis, 38, who police say was homeless, was fatally shot while trying to break into a car on the Northeastside this week.
Police said Dennis was killed while trying to steal a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban at 4057 Millersville Rd.
Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Kendal Adams said Dennis acted like he had a gun, but was unarmed, and ordered the SUV’s owner and another man to the ground. Instead, the men opened fire on Dennis.
The men have not been charged but the case has been turned over to the prosecutor’s office for review.
trial date set for Hardy
A March 21 trial was set for Thomas Hardy, who is charged with the slaying of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer David Moore.
Several IMPD representatives, including Chief Paul Ciesielski, were in a Marion Superior Court hearing in the City-County Building as Hardy was charged with Moore’s murder. He also was charged with a store robbery and a firearms violation.
A not guilty plea was entered on Hardy’s behalf. He will be held without bond because of the murder charge.
Court documents released last week outlined what police had learned after Moore was shot during a traffic stop in a residential driveway on an Eastside street. Moore, standing behind Hardy’s car, was hit four times. He never got his gun out of the holster.
Officer recovering after being run over
Deanne Pulley, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer, was in good condition with broken bones this week after a patron at a Southside bar ran her over with her car, authorities said.
A second officer fired at the woman when she drove her car toward her outside Lizards Pub and Grill, 5200 Madison Ave., police reported.
The driver, Michelle Marsh, 31, Indianapolis, drove for about a mile with gunshot wounds to her stomach before crashing in the 4300 block of Shelby Street, said an IMPD spokesman.
Twenty-one year veteran Pulley was hit twice by Marsh’s car when she responded to a disturbance call at the bar, police said.
When Pulley and officer Christin Rudell went out to the parking lot to talk to Marsh, she backed her car up and hit Pulley, then ran her down a second time, said police. Rudell fired shots at Marsh as she drove the car toward her, according to a police report.
The car continued on but crashed a few blocks away, and Marsh was arrested, Adams said.
Marsh was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery and being a habitual traffic offender, police said.

Sounds like a typical day in Indianapolis. The place is not safe. The police and the Mayor are trying to keep a lid on the violence since the Super Bowl will be held there next year, 2012. Good luck with that. The urban population is taking over.
Bull. Compared to similar sized cities Indianapolis is quite safe. That excert was for a very atypical week, not a day.

Hey, I watch the Indy news every day. Don’t try telling me the place is safe. All you have to do is be in wrong place and you got trouble. Do you live downtown?
I work downtown and spend six days a week there. I wouldn’t be afraid to walk the streets of downtown Indy after dark. Like every city there are bad areas and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know to stay away from those areas. You say “all you to do is be in wrong (sic) place and you got trouble” - that would apply to any city in the world. Duhhhh.

I don’t think it is much different than most mid-west average size towns. There will always be areas where you just don’t go especially at night. Yes, there are areas where you just don’t live as well. It’s still better than Gary, Dearborn, East L. A. etc.
Point being, protect yourself. If handguns were illegal in Indy there would be vastly more crime.
