Egypt's military announced on national television that it has stepped in to "safeguard the country" on Thursday and assured protesters that President Hosni Mubarak will meet their demands in the strongest indication yet that Egypt's longtime leader has lost power. In Washington, the CIA chief said there was a "strong likelihood" Mubarak will step down Thursday.

The dramatic announcement showed that the military was taking control after 17 days of protests demanding Mubarak's immediate ouster spiraled out of control. Gen. Hassan al-Roueini, military commander for the Cairo area, told thousands of protesters in central Tahrir Square, "All your demands will be met today." Some in the crowd held up their hands in V-for-victory signs, shouting "the people want the end of the regime" and "Allahu akbar," or "God is great," a victory cry used by secular and religious people alike.

It matters not a whit who rules in Egypt. Islam is incompatable with democracy and freedom, and whoever heads the government of an Islamic nation is always a despot of one sort or another. Nothing other than a tyrant can rule an islamic country because the very nature of islam is violent with its clerical and despotic control over the people in every single aspect of life, (shari-a law). And there is one reason only why islamic countries in the middle east haven’t attacked Israel recently, and that is that Israel is too strong to attack without the attacker paying an unacceptable price. This is the time for Boy Obama to stand up and declare U.S. alliance with Israel; but the problem is that Obama identifies more personally with islam than he does Israel. When he said “My Islamic faith”, I believe it completely. No Christian or Jew would ever make that kind of mistake. When you’re in your late forties you KNOW what your faith is, it is embodied in your soul, you just don’t “mispeak” what your faith is.

"All your demands will be met today."

I'm hoping that this will be carried out in the sense of "be careful what you wish for".

Or better yet "today we settle all Family business".

The Muslim Brotherhood will increase their influence through this coup. The military will compromise with them, increasing their power and influence.

In a few years, after our 2012 elections, they will be in control.

“Update at 1:12 p.m. ET: Egyptian state TV quotes Egypt’s information minister as denying that President Mubarak will step down, the Associated Press reports.”

“Reuters meantime is reporting that Mubarak is flying to the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh with his chief of staff.”

Did Team Romney apologize for THROWING
the last two elections to Obama and the DNC?

If you're going to outright lie and make things up to suit what you want, at least do a better job of it.
