“they should turn off their cell phones, the cable TV, the internet, stop smoking, stop drinking and get a darn job.

You forgot about the Lottery tickets. I cannot believe the poor folks I see ...who buy $20 worth of those tickets at a time.”

KNOWING I will be attacked, Do you really think ALL poor people just throw all their money away on crap?

Starting to sound kind of Elitist I think. Is everyone who responded like that as much of an A$$ as you folks are?

Most of YOU so called Freepers are disgusting! Go ahead look when I joined, Look at my posts and try to tell me I am a Democrat. Good thing there is NOTHING in the Bible about helping others. (Note the Sarcasm there!)

I realize there are many who USE the system for their own gain, but there are other Hard Working Poor People out there who need our help. Shame on all of you who posted the ENLIGHTENED THEORIES above.

After working for years in a grocery store and watching 96% of them buy this stuff I’d have to say that you are truly clueless about the welfare class. The Bible says charity which means willing giving not being forced by the government to pay and pay for those who you would never help out in the first place.

Well Chris.... shame on YOU for not understanding that the majority of us are sick and tired of having our hard-earned tax dollars spent to subsidize others bad choices.

You may be the exception......but the "rule" I see is that the general welfare people don't want to play by the rules the rest of us are required to.

You think we're all ELITIST? I got married at 17 to get out of a bad home. We were POOR as church mice and struggled for the first five or so years. No one would gave us handouts when we needed medical/dental care or food...because we didn't "qualify"... and our families weren't much better off.. no help there either.

We worked HARD, drove clunkers and did ANYTHING we had to....to pay our bills honestly... and paid our OWN way through college, etc. I've helped friends who got their electricity cut off....bought groceries and Christmas for their kids....volunteered at food pantries, etc.....

So.. don't give me your crap about being an elitist.

By throwing the word "ALL" in there you've made an ASS of yourself in the world of debate. We're debating what the majority of them do. No doubt you can find SOME who are using their fellow citizens' looted funds well, but EVERY TIME I see an EBT card payer at the grocery store I see either the most expensive of food - the best cuts and lots of frozen pre-prepared stuff or I see a division with the grocery items in one pile and the pet food and beer in a second - grocery itmes paid for on EBT and the beer and pet food paid another way - or both.

Earlier this week I was behind a woman (for descriptive purposes only black) with super long fancy nails who used an EBT card to pay for a couple of frozen pizzas, since i only had a bunch of bananas and got out right behind her and I was able to see what she got into carwise - are you ready for this? a relatively new shiny blue Mercedes SL - Now if she can afford to make the downpayment and keep up the payments on a $104,000 car, then she sure as hell doesn't need to be robbing me to pay for her groceries

Good thing there is NOTHING in the Bible about helping others.

OH and FYI Good Buddy, There is a BIG difference between helping others voluntarily (called charity) and being robbed and the loot given to others (welfare) Since you appear to condone theft as long as the loot is used to help those who won't help themselves, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the part of the bible that says "Thou shalt not steal."
