CAIRO -- The government of embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak hit back on Wednesday at what it called U.S. attempts to "impose" American will on a loyal Middle East ally, saying rapid reforms would be too risky.

But as pro-democracy protesters consolidated a new encampment around Cairo's parliament building, the White House again said that Egyptian ministers must do more to meet the demands of demonstrators, who want an immediate end to Mubarak's 30 years of one-man rule and sweeping legislative changes.

**SNIP**

"When you speak about prompt, immediate, now -- as if you are imposing on a great country like Egypt, a great friend that has always maintained the best of relationship with the United States -- you are imposing your will on him," Aboul Gheit said.

Since protests began two weeks ago, partly inspired by the overthrow of another Arab autocrat in Tunisia, U.S. President Barack Obama's administration has trodden a sometimes hazy line between support for a key Arab ally in Washington's conflict with militant Islam and backing for those demanding democracy.

Kind of makes me wish some countries would call for the prompt, now removal of Obama. It’d be none of their business either, but I’d like to hear it.

Mubarak said “I will not be dictated to by an outside power.” My wife said “In other words, he told Obama to kiss his sandy crack.”

Very pertainent right now.

BO is Jimmy Carter part 2.

I do take note of the line in the article that states “as pro-democracy protesters consolidated a new encampment around Cairo’s parliament building” I would like to comment that these people are NOT pro-democracy, they are muslims who are pushing for an overthrow of the government to put their own Islamist government in place.

The media just can’t say the truth in this matter and that is giving our enemies too much help in doing their evil.

Mubarak is doing the right thing for Egypt. Hopefully some of those kids will realize that. If he leaves now there will be total chaos. Not good.

Jimmy Carter was a disaster as president but he isn’t a commie/socialist. He is at least a moral and honorable person. I could never say that of BO. BO is flat out dangerous and hellbent on destroying America. BO’s actions are purposeful and contrived.

I’m about as anti-PC as you can get, but I still don’t like references to monkeys when you are talking about a black guy...even a halfrican-american like 0. Just don’t like it.

“I still don’t like references to monkeys when you are talking about a black guy”

You really should stop being so thin skinned and emotional. The reference is a common one and I’ve heard years before black guys complained about it.

Do they mean like Barry did when the people rallied against Obamacare?

Barry seems to have forgotten the statements he has made about how no country should dictate required behavior to other countries.

Deal with it, Bambi. Can’t wait to hear the bactracking on this one.
