The only proper response to this ‘crisis’ for the US would have been to strongly state our support for Mubarak, but since Obama has been working feverishly for two years to destabilize Egypt and Israel, that would have been highly unkikely,

Perhaps he could have at least sent some CDs of his speeches...

Tell you what, of the many “thought exercises” brought up over the years, eg “imagine what the press would be saying if GWB had made the same move” *THIS ONE* I can’t imagine. Oh, you can say our engagement in Iraq under GWB is/was a huge mistake or based on a lie or a neo-con fantasy or righteous or whatever you want;

It sure as hell wasn’t a “made-up-in-one-day” exercise in blind arrogance (’we get to tell you what to do’) and based upon being caught as flat-footed diplomatic and intelligence-wise as we were in this case.
