Just hours after National Intelligence Director James Clapper made the shocking statement this morning that the Muslim Brotherhood is a “secular” organization, his office tried frantically to “clarify” his remarks.
In a statement to ABC News, Jamie Smith, director of the office of public affairs for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, said Clapper was commenting on the political system in Egypt rather than the make up of the group itself:
To clarify Director Clapper’s point — in Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood makes efforts to work through a political system that has been, under Mubarak’s rule, one that is largely secular in its orientation — he is well aware that the Muslim Brotherhood is not a secular organization.
But that’s now what he said, and the damage may already be done. Soon after Clapper made the statements, numerous news outlets picked up on the incredible remarks, made at a House Intelligence Committee hearing and contradicted by FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Why do they even bother to ‘clarify’ it? It’s not as if the MSM will make a big deal out of it. They’ll just gloss over it and discuss Christopher Lee’s shirtless pic some more.

A "clarification" is what you issue if the President gets swept up in the moment and accidently tells the American Farmers Association that the Federal Farm Board is going to double its payout for Winter Wheat, when actually it's only going to be increasing by 2%.
When you and your spokesmen starting shooting off their mouths every which way, harming American interests around the Middle East, and the world, in ways that may take 50 years to repair if we're lucky...
No, a "clarification" doen't quite cut it.

Something besides Clapper’s answers were screwy looking. The media should be agreeing with Jim Clapper’s answers. Why are all of Jim Clapper’s subordinates sitting at the table instead of behind him advising him? Scopes monkey trial comes to mind here.
I guess I didn’t make myself clear. The MB wants to ESTABLISH Islam and Sharia Law and destroy the current Constitution of Egypt.
We do have an amendment forbidding such activity in the U.S.
The SBP Party would be fine as long as it didn’t set out to destroy the Constitution and set up a national religion.
