Seriously? This is the best rational they could come up with for their faux revolution?

Yes, I know of that method. Also, there are many water recycling methods available. In addition, there is this certain kind of soil, I can’t remember the name of it, that you build with things available fairly easily and once it is built, you never need to fertilize—it’s living soil. I’ll look around my bookmarks and see if I can find that info. Anyway, imagine if in our own cities we used abandoned buildings to grow multilevel produce, using this type of soil, recycled water, computer and robotic technology to keep everything on track...cities could literally feed themselves and plenty of jobs would be available. It’s really a crying shame we’ve let progressive politics tear down this great country. Just imagine what we could do for ourselves and the world at large if we were unshackled from gov’t. I’d love to see this kind of stuff happen somewhere in the world. Makes me want to cry when I think of all the initiative we waste in this country.

Obama looks to Indonesia as a model for egypts transition:

The Obama administration, seeking to help stabilize Egypt following president Hosni Mubarak’s resignation Friday, is looking at the 1998 overthrow of Indonesian dictator Suharto as a model for a democratic transition in a Muslim-majority country, said senior US officials.

National Security Council officials in the past week have been discussing with foreign policy experts similarities between Egypt’s revolution and Indonesia’s, which led over a decade to what is one of the developing world’s most open political and economic systems, according to these officials.

Key issues US officials are tackling in Egypt, and which were prominent in Indonesia, are how to balance an expected rise in support for Islamists and the continued role of the military.

‘Egypt losing control of Sinai to Beduin’
JPost ^ | 2/13/11 | YAAKOV KATZ

Posted on Saturday, February 12, 2011 6:53:25 PM by Tigen

Israelis urged to return home for fear that peninsula will become launching pad for terror attacks as police abandon posts, facing increasing violence.

Concern is mounting in Israel over reports that the Egyptian police force has abandoned the Sinai Peninsula in face of growing Beduin violence, and that the territory will turn into a breeding ground for global jihad.

According to information that has arrived in Israel, Egyptian police authorities have abandoned dozens of police stations throughout the peninsula after they were attacked by Beduin armed with missiles and assault rifles.

This concern was behind Israel’s decision two weeks ago to allow the deployment of 800 Egyptian soldiers in Sharm e-Sheikh and Rafah.

Additional requests since then have been rejected.

In recent years, the Sinai hasturned into a launching pad for attacks against Israel, including by Hamas, which several months ago launched Katyusha rockets into Eilat from the Egyptian territory.

The Egyptian military has for years encountered difficulty in controlling the Beduin population, which does not hold allegiance to the Egyptian government in Cairo.

“The Sinai is already known as a lawless land,” a senior defense official said over the weekend. “There is real concern that if the Egyptians don’t get the Sinai back under their control, it could develop into a major threat to Israel.”

Israel, which has urged all its citizens to leave the Sinai immediately, is particularly concerned about the possibility that Hamas will take hold of parts of the peninsula and use it to launch attacks into Israel via the 240-kilometer long Israeli- Egyptian border, with an emphasis on Eilat.

There is also concern that without a real Egyptian security presence in the Sinai, Hamas will be able to increase the amount and quality of weaponry and explosives it smuggles into the Gaza Strip via Egypt.

Israel has shared these concerns with its allies, as well as on a personal level between Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen.

Gabi Ashkenazi and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Michael Mullen.

It took me a bit, but here’s some info on the soil I mentioned previously. It is called Terra Preta. Although I could not find the original places I gathered info. from in the past, I found a variety of links that explain it in varying degrees. Environmentalist of all ilks are very interested in Terra Preta, so if you are not of that mind-set, please over look all the save-the-planet references. I don’t consider myself an environmentalist, but rather just a good caretaker of the beautiful place God gave us to live in. I apologize if this is redundant info. for you.

Basic overview:

While Indonesia is much better than Iran, the problem I see here is that Obama is assuming he is in charge of the model Egypt uses. Will be interesting to see how things develop. I see the above post from SE Mom which seems to point in the direction of an Iran type model. Time will tell.

I haven’t seen a good answer to this question yet:

What happened in the 20 hours after Mubarak’s speech that forced him to resign?

My biggest question is why would the POTUS want to model a country after Indonesia, does he have a problem with the fundamentals of the USA?

Thank you for the information on Terra Preta. I was already aware of this discovery in the Amazon basin which enabled a large precolumbian indigenous population to live in the jungle, but I am glad to have these new links. Unfortunately, I suspect this is a type of soil formation suited to tropical rain forests, but not to deserts. I think that some very good things have been done with drip irrigation in desert areas which is why I brought it up in the context of Egyptian overpopulation. Philosophically, while I am all for self-reliant entrepreneurship, we cannot forget that we have a God given responsibility to be good stewards of our earth.

I have run across some interesting info. I wasn’t sure how relevant it is, so I am posting it to you on this thread. If it seems noteworthy, please pass it on.

According to Glenn Beck on Feb. 16, the Ayatollah (sp?)in Iran has stated that the 12th Imam has arrived, is alive and well, and working now. Amagonnahaveajihad also stated something similar.

This is such an assertive statement, I felt the need to do some research. I learned that in August 2005 Amagonnahaveajihad said that the 12th Imam would show himself in two years. His top clerics rebuked him for making the statement, saying that they don’t even make such pronouncement. See this thread for further info. on this aspect.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1549787/posts

This thread goes on to say that when Amagonnahaveajihad spoke at the UN, some of his people told him they saw a light surrounding him and protecting him. Amagonnahaveajihad said he was aware of it and had felt it.

Fast forward to Feb. 10, 2007. Two years later. At 3:30 in the afternoon, Obama announces his candidacy for President. The Washington Post recorded the time of the event and his exact speech. It is at this link:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/10/AR2007021000879.html

Interestingly, when it is 3:30 in Illinois, it is 1:00 am in Iran and the date would have been February 11, 2007. Interesting, isn’t it? We learned the significance of that date during the Egyptian Days of Rage.

Now recall, what weird phrase Obama said during his campaign that made everyone say, “Hum.” Hear the “light will shine down” comment from his own mouth in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSO1ZaweL3o

Apparently, he used this phrase more than once. Interestingly, it is this proclamation that earns him the nick-name “Messiah.” At this link you can see the commercial the McCain camp put out to disparage Obama for the “light shining down” remark.

http://america-land-of-the-free.blogspot.com/2008/10/barack-obama-says-light-will-shine-down.html

And finally, in Forbes Magazine, of all places, this article comes out on Oct. 26, 2008. Here is an excerpt:

“Is Barack Obama the “promised warrior” coming to help the Hidden Imam of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?

The question has made the rounds in Iran since last month, when a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”

In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names—Barack Hussein—mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.”

This is a link to the printable version of the article:

http://www.forbes.com/2008/10/26/obama-iran-ahmadinejad-oped-cx_at_1026taheri_print.html

In light of recent Iranian developments, this all seems very interesting. I am sure more could be found, if one had the time to investigate. sure puts Obama’s lack of enthusiasm to support the previous REAL student riots for freedom in a different light.
