Why do so many musical superstars think that their careers are part of a divine plan?
One night last summer, Lady Gaga sat in a tour bus in England, covered in stage blood from her concert that day. She told me that she had cried hysterically before a recent show because she'd had a dream that the devil was trying to take her. She then said, in earnest, that the spirit of her dead aunt was literally inside her body and that she had eaten a bovine heart to face her fear of her father's heart surgery.
If a stranger on a train had said all of this to me, I would have moved a few seats away. But this was one of the most famous women in the world. "It's hard to just chalk it all up to myself," Lady Gaga said of her success, explaining that there was "a higher power that's been watching out for me."

When you think about it, this is actually more threatening than an all out satanic rock band. The references to God are subtle and positive yet have nothing to do with God and are more likely to be satanically inspired.
"God" essentially means anything you want it to mean.
“this was one of the most famous women in the world”
Famous with who? A bunch of 12 - 16 year olds?
Very disturbing. These folks should have been sent to Sunday school by their parents.
I’d like to know why God had to subject the rest of us to Lady Gaga.
Her “God” sounds Satanic to me.
Years ago I met one of the pioneers of Christian rock named Terry Talbot. Fantastic concert and fantastic guy. He had a quote I’ve remembered ever since. “Inside of everyone is a still, small voice that says... “I wanna be famous!””
Neil Strauss is the author of seven best-selling books. His latest is "Everyone Loves You When You're Dead: Journeys Into Fame and Madness," which will be released March 15.
Sounds like something for my library list.
Well, Lady Gaga has 28,011,944 Facebook fans
Compared to:
Barack Obama 18,263,303 fans
The Beatles 14,165,024 fans
The Stones 4,614,273
Aerosmith 2,542,445
She is incredibly popular and just made the cover of Vogue.
To hear her talk like this, she is desperately in need of Jesus Christ. She sounds truly lost.
Take Britney Spears for example, or Miley Cyrus, or the winners of American Idol. The first thing their handlers do is "hooker them up", both the men and the women. they may at first look like clean cut kids but soon they're drug addicted and who knows what all is happening to them.
Look at that little girl-man Justin Bieber--- what is his life going to be in a few years. Betcha gay.
The Shammys?
As an illustration of the current state of the “music industry”, I happened to catch a few seconds of the promotional commercial for this latest utter waste of time:
“Streisand! Dylan! Jagger!”
What is this 1970?
And personally, I never “got” Streisand and Dylan anyway.....
I don’t read Vogue, don’t watch the Grammys, VHI or MTV and don’t listen to any music stations that would play something from some skank named Gaga... I can imagine where she got the name from.. a high school nickname.
You can be socially inept and bury your head in the sand all you want. These “stars” have tremendous influence. Hell, Lady Gaga was the first person Harry Reid called after DADT was repealed!
I don’t read Vogue or watch VH1 or MTV either however I’m well aware of who is influencing our society.

Gaga is #4 after Michael Jackson, Facebook and Texas Holdem’ Poker
Barbra Streisand is a flakizoid, but she had a terrific voice in her prime.
I'm saying on or before March 15.
Double the payout if you guess means of death, and it isn't an overdose (overdose is the default choice).
Put me down for April 20th.
