Friends in Culiacan, in the tomato harvest sent us sad reports of how hard hit the area is...and all the press talks about is Egypt.

If there is a global reduction in harvests, leading to higher prices, then in the US we will just have to pay higher prices. In the Third World, when food prices exceed income and people face starvation, expect MAJOR unrest and mass migration (illegal immigration) to the West.

We may start to see a repeat of the barbarian migrations that helped lead to the fall of Rome.
