Jose Oswaldo Reyes Alfaro, an illegal immigrant, was charged in the pair of attacks blocks apart on Thursday night that left three people dead and three others injured, Police Chief Doug Keen said.
Brenda Ashcraft, 56, and her son William Ashcraft, 37, were shot and killed in the first attack shortly after 7pm on Thursday.
A 34-year-old woman was injured and remains hospitalised, and a 15-year-old girl was treated and released. In the second attack, 48-year-old Julio Cesar Ulloa was shot and killed, and a 77-year-old woman suffered head wounds from a large knife.

When you teach using firearms for defense, you must study knife attacks. A healthy respect for edged weapons and their utility is the logical result.

Pretty horrible. OTOH, it was clearly a mistake for a 56 year old woman to shack up with this guy. Not a smart thing to do.
It's not isolated. There have been thousands of similar incidents involving illegal aliens.
She predicted that advocates of tougher immigration enforcement would use the Reyes Alfaro case to 'stereotype every person that's here without documentation'.
It is false and demeaning to say that advocates of tougher border security and immigration enforcement are painting all illegal aliens with the brush of being violent criminals. But it is unquestionable that all illegal aliens have broken the law by definition. Violent or not they do not belong here.

Yeah, and even if you have a knife, the best advice is to hope you can outrun the other guy.
Disarming a guy with a knife only happens in Hollywood.
A lot of people who have knives do not know much about how to use them, and/or try to intimidate people with them first. I agree that it is very difficult to disarm someone with a knife, if they know what they are doing.
It is possible when dealing with an someone who is ignorant or an idiot.
