Hard to imagine HughesNet sucking any more than it already does. I used to havea pretty profitable business doign VSAT-based internet for folks. The marketing practices of the two companies I represented - WildBlue and StarBand - effectively drove us out of the business. We stil ldo an occasional weekend instalaltion, but the management of both these companies appears to be permanently connected 24/7 to an enterprise-class stupidity server.

The thing I hate the most is the price and the limited use. 225MB a day, if you run out of MB, it slows down to dial up, unless you want to pay $5.00. I can’t watch any type of video(youtube) other than a few minutes a day. If I want to download music I have to do a song or two a day. Can’t stream movies, ect. Oh yea, it’s free from 2-7a.m.. They have this lousy program that they claim will download for you at night, timed. I’ve only been able to get it to work some of the time and I’ve never been able to figure out exactly why it doesn’t work most of the time. No help lines, no info on how to use it. Oh yea, in order to get it, you have to sign a 2 year contract. I hated that the most. My hubby does some of his work from home and dial up is just impossible for what he does.
