Shirley Sherrod, ousted from her position with the U.S. Department of Agriculture after an internet video produced by conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart surfaced, has filed suit in District of Columbia Superior Court alleging defamation, false light and infliction of emotional distress.
Breitbart confirmed that his company, breitbart.com, LLC,had been served with a copy of the suit over the weekend. In addition to Breitbart, producer Larry O’Conner and an unknown ‘John Doe’ are also named in the suit.
Sherrod resigned as Georgia’s Director of Rural Development after the video clip appeared last July. The edited clip showed a speech she gave at an NAACP function where Sherrod spoke of not offering her full help and support to a white farmer, Roger Spooner, in 1986.
The full unedited video, however, showed Sherrod talking about assisting Spooner and moving beyond race in her life and professional responsibilities.
The suit alleges that “Mrs. Sherrod was forced to resign her job after Defendants ignited a media firestorm by publishing false and defamatory statements that Mrs. Sherrod ‘discriminates’ against people due to their race in performing her official duties.

I find it weird that she resigned so quickly. Obviously, she is guilty of something. An innocent person would not have resigned as quickly as she did.
It’s tough to sue someone who has the truth on their side.
Breitbart played the video- in it’s entirety. Obambi saw the bad part and fired Sherrod, before he know the facts.
Rush said it exactly correct- Sherrod was talking about how she had a CHANGE of feelings. She was against ‘whitey’ and then changed in her heart to want to help them.
That would be fine...
But the people in the audience were applauding at the ‘hate whitey’ part, before they heard the change of heart part.
She was their gal!
She should have chastised them for that and walked out.

It seems as if she hasn’t suffered any, indeed her rep among liberals has been enhanced by this event.

Actually, Sherrod doesnt have a prayer. She is a public figure making it very difficult for her to win.
Why sue Breitbart? The hapless Sec. of Ag. canned her to please his 0-ness. As for Pigford, facts are facts.
Actually she benefitted from the BG Vid. She was fired by Zero and then went into her bosses office and walked out with a big ole check as settlement of the Pig Lawsuit.
She and her Husband make their living sueing the Gov and now Breitbart.
Nothing new. But then there is DISCOVERY, wonder how long before she drops this suit?
I'd love to see this one make it to the Supreme Court.
