Bachmann: Obama won't be the only one-term prez

Michele Bachmann says whoever emerges as the GOP nominee will have to be prepared to be a one-term president.

Bachmann, who hasn’t ruled out a run herself in 2012, said in an interview with conservative commentator S.E. Cupp that whoever emerges from the Republican field will have to be prepared to address unpopular issues. Continue Reading

“They have to have the requisite political courage to stare down the media and all the special interest groups and make it happen,” Bachmann said in the interview shown on Glenn Beck's website Monday.

“They have to be willing to be a one-term president because there’s going to be serious work that needs to be done here. Cutting spending — and that’s going to cause a lot of people to squeal — and getting rid of ObamaCare,” she said.

Bachmann said the job will take one “tough hombre” — or “hombre-ette.”

when did it change? the last I saw , she had a $100 billion cut plan...

personally, I don’t see any serious cuts happening unless everyone’s ox is gored- 20-25% across the board.

Why? The idea is to put down the Reconquista, not abet it.

I was thinking the exact same thing. In order to bring the US out of the pit, we have to jettison the biggest weights. SS, Medicare, hell even the IRS need to go. EPA, DoE, DoT, Education... all of them need to go back to the sovereign States.

The only responsibility of the Federal government is to maintain the safety of the States through a powerful national defense. Re-fund our military and even NASA, and let’s get this country moving again

To get rid of almost 80+ years of big government progressive liberalism will take a 2nd Civil War PERIOD. We have 50% of the people paying ZERO net income tax and almost 20 million on various government payrolls (state/local/federal + contractors) they are the constituency for this sick status quo that is killing the republic. I hate to sound so blue but facts are such stubborn things...Think about a nationwide Katrina moment with the LA/Rodney King riots, Jimmy Carter gas lines with brownouts/blackouts everywhere else...that is what will happen if you try to yank the piglets off the federal sows teats!!

I agree 100%, Nat. I’m trying to be positive, but I know as well as anyone that the future is looking very bleak. I have my ammo, food, and water prepped.

Yes, she’s right. I agree. And I really like her. But I really, really think we need her right where she is, a strong voice in congress to help corral our spineless leaders and make them do the right thing.

Let her run for President down the line, after she has finished her current job and maybe gotten some exec experience as a governor.

She’s much like a Paul Revere right now. If we get a George Washington to step in great. If not, she’s going to run, I think. But she’ll be able to retain her House seat anyway.

I think she’s right. If we can elect a conservative who’s committed to cut the spending, she(or he) needs to be willing to be a one-term president.

It wouldn’t necessarily turn out that way, but that’s the mindset that’s needed.

In the end, the Feds are supposed to be the servants of the States...not the other way around.

She’s my congresscritter, so I wouldn’t mind them have a battle to see who can outcut the other.

Paul’s plan is $500B in cuts in ONE year. Not sure what
“The time period for the cuts is a combination of one and five years, according to her office “ ,means. I will write her for clarification.

Sadly, most pubbies will favor neither option in favor of meaningless, insignificant cuts, window dressing, and rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

She’s correct. Here in NJ, that has been Gov. Christie’s expressed point of view all along.

If you seriously try to cut the welfare state, you best be prepared to sacrifice more than an office , title or term.
I foresee a lot of attempted assassinations. The entitlement mentality IS that entrenched.

Try taking cheese from a rat some time.

That is the one bright side as most conservatives are forward thinking and will plan for any eventuality, while libtards live in the moment or for the now or expect some government program to save them.

The crisis will be that the government will be the one requiring saving and no institution or entity will be large enough to do that! I think that the elites that control the progressive movements and the libtards know just what they are doing and that they can "CONTROL" this crisis to their advantage.

Just like Nimrod thought he could control folks by building the Tower of Babel or how social engineers think they can control human nature or the economy. Their schemes will come to naught...We will have to stay armed, prepared, vigilant and ready for that day... All those that allowed themselves to be changed into sheeple will be eaten and those that went to sleep will have a rude awakening.

The good news is that America 2.0 will be a much better place...

I still don’t know Bachmann very well, but I like her more every time I hear from her. I think she’s right, and has the right stance here. The ship of state is heading for the financial rocks, and only absolutely harsh evasive action, that sends everyone tumbling and cussing, is going to save us. The tough part is, we need not only a president but also a majority of congress that is willing to drive through a radical pull-back in generations of expansive government. I just don’t think it’s going to happen, so the Chinese curse “may you live in interesting times” is what I’m expecting to experience.
