GOProud: No regrets for supporting Trump despite major donation to Democrat
Daily Caller ^ | 2/17/2011 | Chris Moody

Posted on 02/17/2011 12:28:41 PM PST by DesertRenegade

The gay conservative group GOProud doesn’t regret inviting real-estate mogul and possible 2012 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to speak at a conservative conference last week, even though he donated $50,000 to former White House Chief of Staff and Democratic Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel.

“We have absolutely no regrets in inviting and promoting Mr. Trump at CPAC,” GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron told The Daily Caller. “Why in the world would we? Mr. Trump stole the show on Thursday, brought new energy and enthusiasm to the conference and delivered a hell of a speech.”

Trump was a last-minute surprise addition to the list of speakers at the Conservative Political Action Conference, where presidential hopefuls traditionally test the campaign waters in front of thousands of activists. Barron said at the time that he “would love to see Mr. Trump run” and Trump has said that he is “absolutely thinking about it.”

Trump’s speech at the conference caused a ruckus among some younger members of the crowd when he said that Texas Rep. Ron Paul had “zero chance” of ever being elected president.

Barron added that Trump’s choice could be justified, given the alternative in the race.

“Would it have been better if he gave $50,000 to Carol Moseley-Braun?” he said, referring to Rahm’s arguably more liberal opponent.

I do not want to see Donald Trump as the GOP nominee. Like I posted earlier, compared to Romney, Huckabee, etc. he looks better by comparison, and that doesn't say much.

Thanks for the clarification. He’d never get the nod.....well McCain did. That was a setup for Obama. We need to start screaming now or they’ll ignore us and we’ll get a loser.

homo's getting married was against the law too in MA once upon a time until these sick people forced their version of morals on to the people.

So if incest was made legal, and then daughter married father would you have a problem with it.

I ask this because when people state they are against the Govt getting involved on social issues everyone minus one said they do have a problem and then they rethink their version of what the Govt should be involved in.

Sounds good though doesn't it , you know people should govern, keep the Govt out, family brings morals but in the real world there are sick freaks who will have incest, who will want law for them who do want to have sex with animals .
Hey even in MA there was a guy who got caught having sex with a goat.

Trump is definitely better than Romney while Huckabee is definitely preferable to Trump. At least, Huckabee could be trusted to appoint judges to courts.

I would imagine the homosexual sex group GOProud's 15 minutes is about up now?

Other than attending the increasingly less conservative FudgePAC conference and associating them homosexual sex brand with some conservative name recognition (which is not defined GOP) what exactly have they done for the conservative cause?

LMAO --NOTHING!!!!!!

These perverts simply wish to ride the coat tails of the ta party much like their spineless RINO counterparts do.

The homosexual sex perverts are the fleas on the RINO tail attempting to wag the conservative dog!

GOPederasty’s connection to Democratic money is EXACTLY what was revealed about the previous front group “Log Cabin”: http://3.ly/85fM

“Sounds good though doesn't it , you know people should govern, keep the Govt out, family brings morals...”

Totally agree!

If incest is made legal for example, would I have a problem with it? Of course! What sane man would have sex with his daughter? Same as two fairies or two bull dykes getting “married” or banging.

The problem is, for these cases, you do need laws exactly because some critters have no morals. That's the problem: The only way to fix the problem is to pass a law, which gives politicians more power to pass more laws.

The breakdown of society that started in the 1960’s has been devastating on this country and in turn, the world.

Possibly. I don't trust him though.

People who say that people who are socially liberal are not pushing their values via government are lying to us or lying to themselves.

I couldn’t agree more with you.

Plus, GOProud is very tricky. They proclaim that it’s wrong for Republicans to talk about social issues, meaning that Reagan was “wrong” as were America’s Founding Fathers.

Note too that these statements are directed at social conservatives not social liberals.

Of course, after telling Republicans to shut up on gay marriage etc. they then start welcoming Democrat activists and supporters to CPAC events, like Sophie B. Hawkins (a Hillary girl). What a scam.

I have to agree. As you can tell from my name, I’m also in Mass so I’ve seen what it was like under Mitt. He destroyed what was left of the Republican party and I’m not sure it will ever truly return.

I wish people could understand what it’s like in this Commonwealth. it’s an incredible place with everything, culture, the arts, education, the mountains, the ocean, everything. But we have a truly “blue” state mentality and we need to shake things up.

Welcome to FR!

I calculate ~35% of the voters in this state have a clue, the rest are too stupid to butter toast, let alone procreate or vote for that matter.

Too many people in this state vote for a living; that's the biggest problem we face here in MA or in most, if not all “blue” states.

MA does have a lot to offer and you're right, it's “true blue” to a fault. Can it be “shaken up”? IMHO, no, because the sane folks are way outnumbered.

I agree. I’m not in love with Scott Brown’s performance and I’m sure he is vulnerable in a primary but there is absolutely no Republican in the state who could beat a motivated Democrat. I wish the 100 percenters could understand this state
