I guess we live in very different realities.

What I see around me is a culture were most have cable or satellite TV so that they can get a great picture on the big screen TV, how many millions of new IPads and IPhones were sold this year, let alone Kimbell's. I am seeing a lot of kids with cell phones...cannot afford to teach my kids but can afford $70 a month for cell phone service ($70 X 12 = $840). Most have high speed Internet and newer computers. The list could go on and on, but all of these are items that are not needed but most of the culture feels short changed if the don't have them. Like I said in the other post...I am talking about what I see around me on a daily basis. There are a lot of people that approach me because I am raising seven children on one income and home schooling them. They are the ones that ask me how I can do it...I tell them that a person must set the priorities and then live based on them. These are the people that come to me, and yes some of them rent, but they are the ones with the latest cell phones (one just showed me some new phone that she just bought...cost her $149, and when I asked what was wrong with the old one the response was...that was last years model). I know several people and they are at different economic levels and yet I see people from all of the different levels homeschooling. The one common thread is that it is a priority to them to educate their own children...so they do without some of the stuff.

Again, please don't get me wrong, maybe things are really different where you live then where I do. But around here most could home school (average income is around the national average). Most just don't want to make the “sacrifices” to make it happen...as an example, the car I drive to work is old...I paid $700 for it four years ago and most of the people I know would not think of buying such a car...when there car is three to four years old they have to trade it in for a new car.

I do agree that we need to provide food and shelter...but we also have to watch out for their future well being...that is why I suggested the resources that I did...I would also suggest seeing the documentary “Agenda”. There is a war going on for the minds of our kids...and the future of our children and our nation is at stake...

Either you neglected to indicate sarcasm, or are completely uninformed. As you may or may not know, the shooter was a left-wing whack job — as are the majority of assasins.

You are looking at the world from your perspective. But please do understand there are those who do not have computers, nor cell phones, nor other gadgets common to most...they simply know to live within their means which does not include these. As I said before it takes their income to just put bread and butter on the table and a roof over their head....and by the way they are not on public assistance either.

You likely dont know of these people because for the most part they are a proud people and do not whine about their life as it is. Nor do they announce it to the world. They simply live day to day surviving the times....some taking courses to better their job opportunites...others working more than one one job. Their bills are paid on time and they are in reality better off than those maxing out credit cards. They pay cash for what they buy and don’t buy what is not necessary.

So again ...no...it’s not possible for them to homeschool. And as for their cars...most are not those you speak of...they are used and older models to say the least.

You may have made sacrifices for your children but do not think these people have not made sacrifices....but their sacrifices are for the basics to be met. Something most cannot understand until they’ve been in that position.

I do understand that there are some people that are as you describe...I was one of them for several years (and in some ways that you describe still one of them)...but we were still able to home school...we found a way. And I also know several people that would be as you described that still home school (one family I know, the parents work opposite shifts so that one of them is home to home school). My main point was that the majority of families and children that I have interacted with...and there were several when I was a youth leader at church are not in the situation you have described. Most have all the extra stuff but still say they cannot afford to home school...

Which means that for the majority of Americans it is actually about what we hold as a priority. And going to most public schools will not help the children to be successful...even with very limited resources most parents can do a better job of teaching their children then a school can.

So yes there are some that are truly sacrificing for their kids to put food on the table...I agree with you. But I do not believe that it is the majority of people in this country...and if that majority would pull their kids out of the school systems we could remove the mess that we now call an education system and then help those that could truly use the help and at the same time we can remove one of the enemies that are out to destroy the family...please make yourself available to the resources that I have suggested. I think it would help you understand why I am so “anti-public education”.
