They think there is an alternative: don’t learn any skills, party it up, and somebody will give you a low-skill job at high-skill pay for being black. I often think they themselves are unaware of how far they’ve fallen behind educationally, with all of the curving & outright cheating by teachers to give false grades, right on into college where professors who grade honestly are deemed “racist” (causing other professors to take note and give “F-” students low “Cs”. Years ago I was at a job where a senior financial person retired; a young (black) file clerk, after someone else was hired for the position, said he had thought about applying for it. His skills (or lack of them) were SO out of synch with the requirements for the job it was like talking to a crazy person; never mind the math, finance or technology angles - his command of the English language was so poor it was bizarre. Nobody had been honest with this young man in years, and they did him no favors. He was eventually let go, and to his very last day there was convinced the older, more educated, experienced, and capable person hired for that job was only hired because they were white.

In the ‘new economy,’ it’s not oging to happen anymore. At some point you’re going to have to have the skills and then knuckel down. If a company locates their headquarters in China, they will be able to avoid the social engineering policies of the US and won’t have to hire these idiots. They’ll be able to bypass it and at some point, companies are going to start shedding these fools, no matter how much they protest.
