Al-Manakhly noted that Iran and Egypt are not at war, and said the final decision on whether to grant the vessels' passage lies with the Defense Ministry.

He said he will not allow any warships to transit the canal without approval from the Defense Ministry.

This may be an indicator of how the new government in Egypt will view their relations with Israel.

Israel should send a fleet the other way to patrol off Iran.

It would just be a damn shame if these Iranian warships were to suffer some maritime mishap once they entered the Med.
