Muslim Brotherhood stakes its turf as part of Egypt's opposition

IN an old apartment building in the south of Cairo, along the Nile River, the Muslim Brotherhood is planning Egypt's future...Although banned, the Muslim Brotherhood is Egypt's best-organised opposition group... it was from the Muslim Brotherhood that Hamas - the militant Palestinian group that runs Gaza - developed.

The Muslim Brotherhood's view on the possible introduction of Sharia law - strict Islamic law - is creating much interest in a country with a traditionally secular government.

Refat Abdo Said, looking to run as a Muslim Brotherhood candidate, backs Sharia law for Muslims and non-Muslims...What about equality between men and women? "Women can do two things: take care of their husband and children in the home and jobs which are suitable, such as medical care and teaching."

He adds: "Islamic laws are very good for everybody and very comfortable for everybody."

And today...Egypt agrees to let the Iranian ships through the Suez Canal. What a coincidence.
