Have a very good family friend who is a naturalized U.S. Citizen, but was born in Costa Rica. They are socialist, but a lot better than most of their neighbors.

There is nothing neighborly about the Sandanistas...

Daniel Ortega, Humbarto Ortegs, Arturo Ruiz, and the rest. All Commies suck....

If I want to socialize with anyone

Ironic. FaceBook,Myspace,Twitter are called Social Websites, but they are not about socializing at all.

They are really about avoiding social contact, even to the point of texting a 'friend' who is sitting 10 feet away from you, rather than speak to them in person.

People walk down the street, or ride in vehicles, totally absorbed into texting on one of these websites, oblivious to the other humans around them.

I think these 'social websites' serve a purpose (like make the owners rich) and can 'aid' us in our lives, but in the end, they are what you make of them.

Great point about these people avoiding socializing. I've got a cell phone, but have never sent a text message to anyone. It's only been since last July when I ended up in the hospital for a week that I now keep my cell phone turned on. Up until that time, I only turned it on when I wanted to call anyone. I have a landline, but most of the calls I get are wrong numbers. Frankly, I don't know how people can figure out how to text messages, when they can't even dial a phone number correctly.

We were at the forefront. The FairOpinion persona was rolled out on FreeRepublic in early 2005 and remained with us through the gubernatorial election cycle of 2006.

Some though that FairOpinion was an actual person; a "protege" of the then chairman of the California Republican Party while others were certain the persona was a compilation of svereal minders working the California Topic in shifts.

Now that it can be revealed that FairOpinin was pure code, many will be embarassed by the energy they expended in their personified counter attacks when all they had to do was hit Ctl+Alt+Delete.

Something I've been saying for years. The advances in communication technology are destroying people's ability to communicate.

My husband and I have been saying this for a long time.
Look at what else they need to do to ‘win’.
They need a ton of voter fraud, paying people to vote, paying people to protest, busing people everywhere, having signs and tshirts ready for them, the voting dead, the people they pay to come to FR and many other sites to lie about their cause, recruiting people on craiglist and other sites to show up at their events, etc etc. I could go on and on.

Yikes, I stand corrected! Thanks for the link. That bastard Sunstein is frightening, isn’t he? That goes for the entire administration. You are right, I wouldn’t put it past them to acquire the technology through a DOD channel to make it look like an anti-terrorist op.

BTW, about a month ago, some employee of PG&E secretly joined an online group opposed to smart meters. His true identity was revealed and the left went absolutely ballistic and got very indignant that some corporation would “infiltrate” their chat room. As usual, they want it both ways.
