Are they not aware that they are professional salaried employees? My husband has RARELY worked an 8 hour day in his entire career. He is salaried and works 10 to 12 hours a day and often is checking emails and working details on weekends.Yes, they conveniently forget that many salaried employees in the private sector work much longer hours than the "normal" 8 but also work many more days than the 190 or so that teachers do.
