Rumsfeld blasts Obama's world image

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld disputes the notion that President Barack Obama has made America more popular around the globe than it was under his former boss, President George W. Bush.

Asked on CNN's "State of the Union" by host Candy Crowley whether the U.S. is looked at differently than under his tenure, Rumsfeld replied, “I don't think there's data that supports that.”

"He has made a practice of trying to apologize for America," Rumsfeld said of Obama. "I personally am proud of America”

Rumsfeld also downplayed Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.

“He had not accomplished a thing when he got the Nobel Prize. It was given to him on hope,” Rumsfeld said. “Had to have been cause, there wasn't anything that he'd done. He'd been in office 15 minutes.”

Rumsfeld is part of the crew that abandoned our POWS. What a joke for him to accuse anyone of lying.

I consider Rumsfeld one of the best public servants of my lifetime. No one else dealt with the jackal media with such condescension.

We’ve gone from establishment liars,,,who at least have a veneer of love for country, to a full on revolutionary marxist who openly hates America.

Obama sucks,, but the Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush wing of the party is a sorry alternative. Face it,,, the rumsfeld DOD gave us a war in Iraq and Afghanistan that has lasted 3 times as long as WWII. Blazing competence there./

I think you will discover that was lead by Juan McShame.

Juan was afraid people would find out he was a traitor in the Hanoi Hilton.

Rumsfeld mishandled both the Iraq and Afganistan wars.

You might want to read the book first.

You - and now I also - will get some flack for this, but you are correct.

I see no reason to celebrate Rumsfeld just because Obama is worse.

Yep,, Juan is the ringleader of that. Probably the worst treachery our government ever has done,,, ever. And Rumsfeld was secdef 75-77.

I cannot imagine a president worse than Obama. But the Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney wing of the party is not what i want in his place.

And furthermore,,, i think he screwed up the war. Two examples,,, we spent years driving rear echelon supply covoys down unsecured roads. That was one of the biggest contributors to our deaths,,, secure the damned supply line.

Two,, he turned a blind eye to Iranians supplying the IEDs. The iranians even sent in revolutionary guards to assist Al Sadr,,, and Rumsfeld never made them bleed for it. American soldiers were murdered by an enemy that their secdef refused to drop a bomb on.

Rumsfeld mishandled both the Iraq and Afganistan wars. One reason islamic extremism is on the rise is that there is now a perception that the USA can be checked, if not outright defeated.

Iraq was basically taken down with an assault force of 2.5 divisions. Speed & mobility compensated for the lack of mass. It was brilliant and Rumsfeld deserves credit for approving the plan.

The only thing that I find fault with was that when the 4th ID was finally inserted that the original invasion units were pulled back too quickly. We got the insurgency, which got out of hand for a period. Then again you have to balance that off with all the other things that DID NOT HAPPEN, like a war on the Korean Peninsula.

Sometimes the best plan gets negated by an opportunistic opponent acting aggressively.

I think you will find the extent of the cover up.

Juan's superior in the Hanoi Hilton was Adm Stockdale.

Stockdale was given a MOH to keep him quiet.

Juan was allowed to leave the service honorably.

I’m sorry to say you’re right.

And not just America will suffer for it.
