Any man that would tell children that their parents are criminals for using electricity or driving an SUV, and suggesting that the kids know more than their parents, is pure evil in my book.
I had that crap done to me in elementary school in the 70s with some teachers telling us that we were about to go through another ice age and would have to flee to Mexico. God bless my parents who knew better.
You don’t mess with kids that way. There are enough real threats in this world, we don’t need to present children with chicken little crap.
What is “For The Forest”?
For The Forest is a Basalt, Colorado-based 501(3c) nonprofit formed to promote forest health and sustainability throughout the Western United States.
For the Forest has partnered with many local non-profit organizations and the US Forest Service to create a variety of programs all aimed at increasing civic engagement on issues of conservation, ecological restoration, biodiversity and carbon emission reduction.
Would you rather walk through a green forest or a dead one? Is the Roaring Fork Valley doomed to the same fate as the Eagle Valley and Vail?
How long do we have to act?
A few months. If we wait another year to begin, the task will be exponentially greater and the chances of success smaller.
What’s the global warming connection?
Warming temperatures helped unleash the pine beetle epidemic. Now, as the vast forests killed by beetles decompose, the trees are releasing their carbon back into the atmosphere, contributing to more warming.
Won’t these forests grow back naturally?
Many will, but not in time to help solve the earth’s global warming crisis.

Check out the James Patterson "Maximum Ride" series of books, aimed at teenagers. Adults are ruining the world with pollution and it's up to the bird-human hybrid children to stop them. The theme starts out small, but by Book 4 (the last one I read) it's overarching.
