Rasmussen poll shows Walker winning standoff with unions, Dems
Hot Air ^ | 2-21-11 | Ed Morrisey

Rasmussen polled likely voters across the nation to determine whether public-sector unions have persuaded the country that Scott Walker is the love child of Hosni Mubarak and Adolf Hitler, or whether voters have sided with Walker’s attempt to break union dominance in state government. So far, it looks as though the unions have lost the public-relations battle:

A sizable number of voters are following new Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s showdown with unionized public employees in his state, and nearly half side with the governor.

Did you see the Fox news report detailing private sector people who’ve lost their jobs as a result of the teachers’ strike? I didn’t see the entire thing, just caught the part about someone losing their job because they had to stay home with their children due to the strike. If this is true, Republicans need to jump on it and hammer the Dems and Unions for it.

The numbers are:
48 % support the governor
38% support the SEIU
14% don't know who they support
I'd rather see 60% supporting our side. A gaffe on either side could swing opinion either way.

And that “gaffe” could be the fake doctors’ notes handed out by University of Wisconsin doctors.

My god, the scary thing is that 41% of people think these union jobs pay same or less than private sector.

This is excellent and somewhat surprising, considering the strength of private sector unions in WI. Folks have got to open their eyes, regardless of whether they are union themselves or not, when it comes to these public sector unions that are not sustainable. Even FDR, the best friend Unions ever head, understood that.

I’m actually surprised that 38% back the unions.

Let's hope. On such a black and white issue it's discouraging that our side doesn't have a commanding majority.

Hey! That guy needs all of the support he can get. Otherwise it looks as if his destiny is to be a puddle of fat on the ground.

Nobody likes a bully.

The democrats are using the same obnoxious tactics in WI that helped spawn the TEA Party movement across the nation. Nobody with an ounce of sense likes what they’re seeing from them.

This is a national poll. Not just a WI poll.

One could wish the numbers higher, but the numbers ARE better than Obama’s. And, unfortunately, many people would rather follow Snooki (omg!) than follow current events.

Right!

Then people that “slip and fall” into the grease slick can sue US.
