NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Drivers who have filled up their car lately have probably experienced sticker shock at the pump. Gas prices keep going up.

"It's just getting higher and higher," said Nashville driver Robert Reynolds. "It's getting outrageous."

"It's ridiculous we have to pay this much for gas," said Tracy Nolan, another driver.

People pulling up to the pump this week are likely to be paying 4 cents more for gas compared to last week.

The average price for a gallon of unleaded in Nashville is $3.04 cents. Economists are predicting a surge in gas prices because of instability in the Middle East. There are some who say drivers could be paying $5 a gallon for gas by late summer.

And if these stupid Democrats would just get out of the way we’d be self sufficient in oil. We wouldn’t care what the Middle East was doing with their oil. We could care less, the could drink it for all we care.

But, will the stupid DC folks wake up, or will they still resist drilling offshore and in ANWR?

We are the most self destructive country in the world.

As long as oil is traded on a world market, the price will be set more by wall street banking paper pushers than by supply and demand, domestic or foreign.

We have incredible resources in this country.

We have the equivalent of billions of barrels of oil locked up in oil shale deposits in the intermountain west, in states such as Colorado, Utah, Wyoming. Yes, it would be expensive and take some time to develop these resources, but they are there, and could be a life saver for our country. Ditto with drilling off our coasts, and more drilling in Alaska.

Bush and Republicans were lampooned by the liberals when gas prices went over $4 a gallon a few years ago. Will Obama and his good Democrats be lampooned as Obama presides over an era of rising gas prices?????

I don’t think the MSM reports spikes in gas prices nowadays as much as they did during the Bush years.

IMHO, we’ll be very lucky to see it stay south of $5.00

I figure that 6 months of $5.00/gal gas will cure the public of Democrats and wackos for about 25 years, so maybe it’s worth it. Carter did the job last time with 20% APR home loans and double-digit inflation. Look at it this way: it’s an “education tax” - certainly not more than you’re paying already.

The media doesn’t report anything detrimental to the current regime. Therefor I go to overseas news sources to find out what’s happening in our own country. Sad.

There is huge psychological difference between 2.97, and 3.01.

If the Republicans had HALF a brain, they would be making democrats defend that 4 cents vis-a-vis American production.

I say if it goes over $3.50, we're done.

Could be partially true. However, if it is shown that our domestic production is such that it basically floods the US market then the price would come down. Just saying.
