Thus if there was no transponder signal recorded (as there must have been if this was an aircraft) it must have been something other than an aircraft. Seems simple enough.

Easy there SeeSac. Perhaps I missed the transponder part? If there was a transponder signal, someone knows who the flight belongs to, and that it was an aircraft not a missile. Can you post a link to this information? Further, how about easing up a little on a fellow FReeper?
