Don't have the exact number of electoral votes needed but Obama is safe in the usual big states - CA, NY, IL, etc.
He needs 3, maybe 4 more states for a Dem victory. That means Barry can ignore most of the west and focus on winning a few key states - very do-able. That's no different than most presidential campaigns since Mondale.
CA, NY and IL all lost some electoral votes I believe. Obama’s opponent in 2012 only needs FL, IN, TX, OH and the rest of the South to counter.
States Obama won in 2008 like WI, NV, MO, etc. will probably dump him given the weak economy.
He needs 3, maybe 4 more states for a Dem victory.
California, New York and Illinois will total 104 EV in 2012.
The rest of the "above average approval" states in the graphic (WA, VT, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, DCand MD) total up to 67 EV.
That still leaves Obama over 100 EV short of the the 270 majority. Where are they going to come from...???
