How much taxpayer money goes into such an ornate building? How can the gov’t live in a palace while the people are struggling to find jobs?
To hell with a “beautiful Capitol”, sell it off to the Saudis piece by piece and let the legislature rent a warehouse.
I read in the Belmont Club comments about a 2007 change
to the Insurrection Act that might allow the President
to pre-empt a Governor on calling out the National Guard.
IOW, a change in who decides what and who to protect.
Right now I’m on lynx and can’t cut and paste (or don’t
know how) this might be what’s holding things up in WI.
That’s an interesting bit of information.
Knowing Scott Walker, he just doesn’t want to rock the boat. He is firm, but he isn’t a bomb thrower (although I doubt the unions would agree with that assessment right now, lol).
