I would deal. In return define an assault weapon as any semi that has a 10+ round mag, otherwise they are legal. Thus all weapons in the original AWB will all be legal if the owner uses a 10 round mag. No longer illegal to have folding stock, bayonet lugs, flash suppressors, etc, etc, just center on one feature the mag inserted into the weapon. Otherwise Uzi, MAC-10, etc which were banned in the past now can be legal. Exempt will be fixed tube mags and fixed mags like SKS semi’s. Otherwise nuts to the deal.

If you change the actual headline, people won’t be able to find it when they do a search

I think I speak for every conservative in New Jersey when I say “My apologies to the country for having this disgrace represent us.”

Because he doesn’t represent us.

Trouble is -- this is not Lautenberg's first gun ban; his other "famous" one was in 1998 and ended the careers of some in the military and law enforcement. He is the slimiest of the slimes. Read about it here:

...because the 10 round figure was come up with scientifically. Police records were combed... Situations in which someone had to use their weapon to defend themselves and their family were examined. It was scientifically and statistically determined that 10 rounds were enough to handle almost all situations...

Ok, I'm kidding of course. The 10 round number is there simply because it is a nice "round" number. They really don't care what the number is. They (the would-be gun-grabbers) just want a number, any number written into law. Once they set that precedent, they can then start moving that number down, banning more and more magazines and firearms.

Even if the first paragraph wasn't satire, even if 10 is actually based on statistics {snort} ... So what? My right is not a statistical right. I don't have the right to defend myself in 99.5% of life-or-death situations. My rights are unequivocal and non-negotiable. Period.

Why should there be any “deal?” All those weapons are legal now. Gungrabbing is a political loser all across the country.

Rolling over to any gun ban or mag ban is BS. The GOP controls the house and in the senate has enough votes to block cloture.

Lautenburg can propose a bill saying his farts smell like roses and it is just as likely to pass.

Sorry, NO DEAL.

He's not only talking Long Guns but Handguns too. And scores of Handguns now come standard made for 'high capacity' magazines. And they're made only to accept these mags as the grip is longer. A 10 Round Mag wouldn't even work.

They're in every caliber from 9mm to .40 S&W (can't recall seeing .45ACP but they maybe made too). So his Bill is also a HUGH job killer. Not exactly what we need now. (or ever)
