GOProud's Jimmy LaSalvia: Majority of conservatives embrace gay conservatives
Parker/Spitzer Blog ^ | Feb 24, 2011 | Jay Kernis

In the news: Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie on Wednesday signed into law a bill that will legalize civil unions for same-sex couples in the Aloha State. Meanwhile, President Barack Obama has ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage for federal purposes as only between a man and woman, according to a statement Wednesday from Attorney General Eric Holder.

ONLY ON THE BLOG: Answering today’s OFF-SET questions is Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director of GOProud, the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies.

According to its mission statement, “GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy. GOProud promotes our traditional conservative agenda by influencing politics and policy at the federal level.”

They have no other interests. The only part of their environment that should be allowed in the party is their money in our coffers. Otherwise they have to stay away ~ the American voting public punishes Republicans and Conservatives for having them around.

I am constantly astounded by the number of FReepers who don't want gays to vote Republican. There are many reasons why they should, and it's possible to convince many to do so, if you can interact with them calmly, logically, and without bigotry.

Names, please.

It's more productive to educate people than to run around screaming "faggot".

So the conservatives you hang with run around screaming "faggot". If not, then where have you seen this kind of thing occur? I've never seen it.

They don't need an identity group to vote. They need one to push their AGENDA. We object to IDENTITY politics based on deviant sexual choices. We object to "special rights" based on deviant sexual choices.

Well, if this is something that you are "constantly astounded" by it won't be a problem for you to provide links where FReepers have suggested this. Can you do this or were you just repeating some leftist talking point?

There are many reasons why they should, and it's possible to convince many to do so, if you can interact with them calmly, logically, and without bigotry.

So, you think FReepers who opposed militant homosexuality are "bigots"?

It's more productive to educate people than to run around screaming "faggot".

Really? Tell us, when you are "educating" the sodomites do you tell them that they are engaging in deviant behavior that is almost certain to shorten their lives and cause numerous health problems? What precisely do you tell homosexuals when you are trying to "educate" them?

It's more productive to educate people that this issue is about opposing a homosexusl sex premised rights agenda. You miss the point completely by calling people 'gay' as if there is some immutable objective characteristic that identifies the homosexual species -this is much like calling abortion 'choice' and socialism 'progressive'.

You quack like a duck... Why should any conservative consider your views at best RINO?

Quack quack...

I think you may be misreading the opposition to GOProud. It is not their conservative voting that is being rejected, but their demand for special recognition and status based on their sexual orientation. The sectioning off into subgroups is the hallmark of the left...the opposite of the "melting pot". Why do you think the word "American" is always last in all of those hyphenated descriptions liberals use to describe themselves? Because the identity politics come first in their minds. That is what GOProud is doing. They are placing their sexual orientation above their supposed conservatism, and that is what is being rejected.

This nonsense, to many of us (Mary Matalin notwithstanding) this perverse behavior is unscriptural, both in the OT and NT, and goes against the express written laws of God. The homosexuals DEMAND that we have to EMBRACE their flouting of God’s laws; we MUST cheer on their “marriages” and fawn over their in-vitro children. Of course, it’s not the child’s fault how their parents “choose” to live, and they should be loved and accepted as all children should be. - Frankly, I have to live a practical life. I can’t keep up with Rosie O’Donnell’s “marriages”, divorces, and who she’s sleeping with now. I can’t get excited about Elton John and his “husband” “having a baby” because it does not compute. I think this GOProud thing is just another way to divide the RINOs.

Let me add that this organization promotes an agenda closer to the anarchy of libertarianism than the REPUBLICAN premised government moral order of society that comprises a FUNDAMENTAL plank of conservatism. The obvious thing missing with these morally devoid or at best morally moot anarchists God.

We are at war with Islam -do we stand with God or with homosexual sex? The answer is obvious. LMAO

I’m one of the Dim ‘chosen people’. I’m off the plantation and I understand what you are saying.

I came off the plantation because I realized how much more fun it is to work and earn a living.

As for gay people, they need to understand several things. Personal responsbility is a whole part of the system. This means accepting the consequences for harmful behaviour.

You're damn right you struck a nerve.

Free Republic is a CONSERVATIVE forum, not some cesspool for homosexual apologists.

You said that a number of FReepers don't want homosexuals voting GOP, you were asked for proof and now you come up with a pathetic excuse.

You also suggested that FReepers who opposed militant homosexuality are bigots.

Now you say that OUR NAMES will do for a "quick shot in the dark." So tell me you lying POS where have any of us EVER suggested that homosexuals not vote GOP?
