The difference between voting present and real leadership.
(Big Hollywood) Yesterday, Sarah Palin called on NATO to enforce the no-fly zone over Libya. From her Facebook Page, via FOX Nation:
Its a little perplexing looking at the White House today. There was a statement on the horrible earthquake in New Zealand, and certainly our hearts go out to all those affected by this horrible natural disaster. But nothing on the slaughter in Libya? The protests in many places in the Middle East affect regimes that have cooperated with the U.S. on issues from peace with Israel, fighting al Qaeda, hosting our military forces, or cooperating against Irans nuclear ambitions. Gaddafis Libya is different. For four decades, this tyrant has held power. Gaddafi was Osama before Osama hit the scene. He ordered the bombing of a disco in Germany to kill Americans. When he paid the price for that after President Reagan rightly ordered retaliation he directed his agents to blow up Pan Am Flight 103. They did, and more than 250 innocent people died. Gaddafi tried to come in from the cold in 2003 scared by the demonstration effect of Iraq. But we should have no illusions. Gaddafi is a brutal killer and Libya not to mention the world would be better off if he were out of power. Now is the time to speak out. Speak out for the long-suffering Libyan people. Speak out for the victims of Gaddafis terror. NATO and our allies should look at establishing a no-fly zone so Libyan air forces cannot continue slaughtering the Libyan people. We should not be afraid of freedom, especially when it comes to people suffering under a brutal enemy of America.
Today, NATO officials responded. YNet News reported:
NATO forces may attack forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi if the Libyan air force continues to bomb anti-government protesters, the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi reported, citing a European official claiming the US had threatened to intervene in the violence.
Oh
. And, of course, Sarah Palin isnt even in office.
Meanwhile, somewhere hiding out in the White House, Obama voted present.

I have mixed feelings too. Not much investment in saving Libyans from themselves. As you point out they are moslems and whoever replaces Qaddafi will be an ungrateful enemy. On the other hand I like that Palin's voice is loud and clear while the sniveling pusillanimous Usurper has not the cojones even to call out Qaddafi by name.

Who is revolting in Libya? Is it not an Islamic Revolution which means bearded mullahs want to take power? If thats the case, are we the USA not better off with the Col. K in power?
Exactly, anyone in the western world siding with the rolling islamic revolution is on the side of the U.S. establishment, i.e., Dems and RINOs who "want to be on the right side of history". Repub establishment us just pandering for votes from Repubs who hearken back to our glory days decades ago. They are not aware that "democracy building" is at a halt right now. Democracy does not make a nation any better if more than 50% of the population favors barbarism. Actually, us and our democratic allies are being slowly and peacefully overrun by the same rolling revolution. The establishment has no clue of the consolidation of power being undertaken by "workers of the world" and caliphaters. Dems are useful idiots, as the Dem party is now effectivly run by the "workers of the world".
It "sounds good" to support a "revolution" for "democracy". Had enough "" yet ? Because all these words being tossed around are just that - words. We're sitting here just as the free world did between 1933 and 1939, watching a new evil group of nations organize. The big difference is that the group of nations does not have the brains and productivity of Germany and Japan. They buy all their military hardware. So if we start recalling and electing Senators and Representatives, and elect a President in 2012 with an huge loud shout of a mandate to get back to work and get tough, both domestically and internationally, we can reassert ourselves and avoid becoming losers bound to enslavement. We could grab the world by the horns and show them how it's done.
I'm waiting for a Presidential candidate to stand up tall (like Allen West) and publicly acknowledge the conquering goals of islam which are affirmed by it's conquering history.

Calling on NATO?
That doesn't sound like something an AMERICAN President do.

Amen, sister...meanwhile, what are we doing with those POS Pirates in Somalia? We know where they are coming out from, know their Villages. What is our Administration doing with the world’s best Navy? Keeping them away from the fight to end this madness, that’s what. We have a “show” Navy, not a fighting service that can end this now, at once. Go to the air and drop Marines into these villages, surround them and give them 36 hours to surrender orfinally the wrath of America will come down on them like a ton of bricks! But our President barely speaks up at all, the sniveling toothpick of a man.

And, when the Marines are cut off, as they were in Liberia, the Army will send some Special Forces to rescue them.

The Navy is fine and more than fine. They are tightly strapped down. Think of Gulliver constrained by Lilliputians.

I had a brainfart on the 'N'. You are correct it is Noncombatant. But it is Noncombat Evacuation Operation, not order.

What are you talking about? We've had three NEOs conducted in Liberia. None of them involved special forces rescuing Marines cut off in Liberia. If you want to write a fictional novel about it, go for it. If you want to stick to truth, post the facts. Here they are:
Operation Sharp Edge:

Of course Marines would not be noncombatants. But in one of the above operations, the last Marine units was cut off at the embassy, and two Army special forces guys stopped in and lead the Marines out. Of course the SF guys were able to pass as local ethnics

I am pretty sure we are agreeing. The operation starts with an order.
