A Tulsa police captain has filed a federal lawsuit claiming his civil rights were violated after he was reassigned and placed under investigation for refusing to order officers to attend a voluntary social event at a mosque.
Capt. Paul Fields claims he was ordered to assign police officers to attend a law enforcement appreciation day at the Islamic Society of Tulsa. Fields refused that order because he said it violated his religious beliefs.

Can a policeman be under the same threat for refusing to attend a Christian or Jewish Policeman Appreciation event?

"...to order officers to attend a voluntary social event..."
How can the officers be ORDERED to attend a VOLUNTARY event?
"...law enforcement appreciation day..."
How can one appreciate something that is doing its level best to destroy this country? I hope this police captain wins this case.

The government shouldn’t be allowed to order anyone to attend a voluntary religious event.

Federal lawsuit? OK, but isn’t this one of the few things unions are for? Where were they with this obvious grievance?
To: Pearls Before Swine
Unions only help with bilking the public out of money.
To: americanophile
I stand with Capt. Paul Fields on this, however, I believe he will lose the suit. I hope I’m wrong.
It should be interesting to see how this turns out.

islam seeks the destruction and domination of the United States of America.

Because he holds the rank of captain, he may very well not be a member of any union.

Islam needs to neutralize the U.S. in order to clean up the world and eliminate the stain of Christianity.

He may be in the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) which is a national union.
