Gingrich: Obama Sparks 'Constitutional Crisis,' Raises Impeachment Specter
NewsMax ^ | 2-25-2011 | By Jim Meyers and Ashley Martella

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV Friday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Barack Obama’s decision not to fully enforce the Defense of Marriage law has sparked a constitutional crisis as he has directly violated his constitutional duties by arbitrarily suspending a law.

Gingrich for the first time raised the specter of Obama’s removal from office, noting that, if a “President Sarah Palin” had taken a similar action, there would have been immediate calls for her impeachment.

Obama Attorney General Eric Holder said on Wednesday that the administration will not defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act in the courts, which has banned recognition of same-sex marriage for 15 years. President Clinton signed the act into law in 1996.

Obama’s decision to forego a legal defense of the law has caused a firestorm of anger from conservative groups.

Gingrich slammed Obama for his decision, telling Newsmax that he is not a “one-person Supreme Court” and his decision sets a “very dangerous precedent” that must not be allowed to stand.

Gingrich is a coward and a fraud. He reminds me of a slightly less stupid version of Bill O’Reilly.

Here is Rep John Boehners Office Number 202-225-0600, I called his office on Wednesday when Odumbo stated the DOMA was unconstitutional. I informed him to reign in the idiot in the White House. As an American whom served in the military I will not stand behind an idiotic moronic imbecile in the White House. The same goes for idiot that is in the position as Attorney General named Eric(Dumbass)Holder (Odumbo’s stepbrother).
Lets find out all the idiotic Senators whom endorsed Holder to become the AG. If the state has recall election procedure, consider seeking the process to remove each and every Senator whom endorsed and voted for this AG whom is not even fit to be a dog catcher.
Is this the excellence of Harvard University Law School - Odumbo is the epitome of ignorance of the law. If he read the 14th Amendment the first paragraph includes the issue of natural birth citizenship, in the equal protection of the law - he would have read that he is inelgible to even be a president or a US Senator from Illinois) what do they teach at Harvard it is not the Constitution - Massachusetts needs to revoke the charter of harvard and take away Odumbo and Holders law licenses and law degrees.

Not only has Obama taken the Supreme Court, remember a few months ago he took over from the Congress when EPA enacted a law that the old Congress voted down.

Some dingbat lib lawyers on Hannity was trying justify Obama’s action on not defending this law in court.

Not defending this law is court is the same as not enforcing the law. Dumb lawyers are a dime a dozen.

Rather, he is exercising the independent judgement which is the right of EACH branch, in this case a judgement about what arguments in court by the Solicitor General are valid.

Nobody is above the law. This implies that the law applies to everybody. This means that nobody, including the POTUS, can simply ignore laws that they don't like.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

“Striking down Obamacare has not, in fact, sent him any kind of message. He’s ignoring it.”

Not if the decision comes from the Supreme Court. They need to literally lay down the law with him. But, you’re right that he just ignores the rulings of any lesser courts. He considers himself above them. It will be a full blown constitutional crisis if he ignors the Supremes.

Newt’s right.

I just don’t think we would be hearing this from Newt, however, if he weren’t running for president. Based upon his past actions, this has to be a campaign conversion.

[I don’t see a “constitutional crisis”. ]

Oh, it’s a constitutional crisis alright, but apparently, Americans don’t care unless the Democrat run media tells them to.

re: "FWIW, it does appear that Newt really, really wants to be the POTUS." He wants it baaaaad. Newt Gingrich: West 1 of 4 potential VP candidates Quote:
"After resigning his congressional seat in 1998, Newt Gingrich didn't think he'd ever be this close to making a run for president. And if he does run, he told NewsChannel 's Evan Axelbank at an annual Palm Beach County GOP fundraiser, that Florida's elected officials will get lots of consideration as Vice Presidential picks. He included brand new congressman, Allen West. "Florida has two, and maybe three potential vice presidential candidates right now. Maybe four if you count Jeb Bush," said Gingrich"
I like LTC Allen West and pray he finds himself ready to run for president in 2012. Newt on the other hand NEEDS LTC West to win. LTC West doesn't need a familiar RINO's 'name' on a ticket to win. LTC West's record speaks for itself. I've had enough of the RINO GOP ticket. The GOP manipulated the '08 RINO/conservative ticket with McCain/Palin. Holding my nose on McCain, I pulled the lever for Palin in '08. I'd like to pull the lever for LTC West in 2012 - without any RINO tag along on the ticket. Gingrich makes his RINO position clear when he stated above that he'd consider Jeb Bush as well. Enough is enough already.

Newt is correct, this is an impeachable offense.

He is not being hyperbolic.

The President is arbitrarily refusing to enforce the law.

He is refusing to do his job.

If I refuse to do my job I will get fired.

Obama needs to be fired.

He has crossed the line, a clear legal constitutional line.

"he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,"

Where is John Boehner?

Everytime I see the words “Newt” and “running for president” in the same sentence, I want to lmao.

Ms. Pelousy’s couchmate has about as much chance at the Oval Office as I do.

Doesn’t seem we have anyone in authority that is willing to do anything about this illegal alien....the more they do nothing the bolder he gets........

The man now realizes what an embarrassment he is to his race and to this country and he is going to shove his ideas on us out of spite.

Newt is running for President and wants to be relevant.

He should start by asking his friends if they would vote for him instead of an electable candidate.

he’s just another private citizen with an opinion-

and a bullpit.

I don’t see a “constitutional crisis”.

I think Newt probably knows more about it than you...or me...or most of us. I think it's serious. We have only 2 branches of gov't under Obama when he doesn't approve of what the 3rd does.

I don’t see a “constitutional crisis”.

That is the real problem. This should have sparked a crisis but it didn't. Damned few of us care about the rule of law anymore, and if that goes, we all go down.
