I’m a little confused about something. The article and all that I’ve read says the “billboard” was in Soho. This is NOT a black neighborhood. This is the neighborhood of Susan Sarandon - an extremely wealthy area. Why was the “billboard” not displayed in Brooklyn - let’s say Crown Heights. Or the Bronx.
I’m also confused as to why the billboard was strung from an apartment/office building - not a real billboard. This could really put occupants of the building in danger - because we live in an awful, dangerous world.
I think the ad is extremely provocative, dangerous and brilliant. I am in full support of it being used - but in the proper neighborhood without compromising innocent residents - and without a black face in sight.
Who better to point it out to then the upper class liberal ‘elites’ that think everything is just hunky dory in the ‘ghetto’?
I think the strategy is a good one myself.
