There's one thing that no one is talking about. Oil that's pulled out of the ground here will go to the highest bidder, not the lowest. It will however help to bring global prices down both through increased supply and competition.
I suspect an announcement that we were opening up vast areas to oil and gas production would bring an immediate drop in prices.
