My grandfather (born 1888 and died 1983) also served in WWI as an army scout on horseback, and fought at Argonne Forest.

When my Dad died and we went to Arlington to select a section for him to be buried in, we found one way up the hill in sight of the Argonne Cross [the WWI Memorial]. We chose that spot since his father [my Grandfather] had fought in that battle ...

Yes, that's a great idea. As the last representative of the doughboys, Mr. Buckles certainly deserves it.

When the last British Army vet [Harry Patch] died in 2009, he got what almost amounted to a state funeral.

Same should go for Buckles - lie in state at the Capitol [as a remembrance of ALL those who served in WWI] just prior to interment at Arlington ...
