Former Mexican Governor Admits Past Presidents Controlled Drug Trade
Business Insider ^ | 02/28/2011 | Grace Wyler

The Mexican political world was sent reeling this weekend after a former PRI politician admitted his party had exercised strong control over Mexico's drug trafficking routes.

During a recent university conference, former Nuevo Leon governor Socrates Rizzo said that previous PRI presidents had formalized agreements with drug cartel leaders to coordinate and protect Mexico's lucrative drug trade, Milenio reports. Rizzo argued that presidential control over smuggling prevented the widespread violence that has been commonplace since the 2000 election of PAN president Vicente Fox, which ended more than 70 years of PRI control.

To add insult to injury, in a Wikileaks cable released Saturday Rizzo says he fears national elections would further enmesh organized crime in Mexico's political system.

"While the two principal parties - PRI and PAN - had both taken steps to guard against the infiltration of narco-money in the campaigns, in practice it would be practically impossible to prevent organized crime from bankrolling candidates. One way the cartels could impact the race would be to just bribe television anchorpersons and the commentators, thereby ensuring that their particular candidate received favorable coverage. Alternatively, he said, organized crime could provide a candidate's staff with walking around money to distribute to voters."

Although Rizzo Garcia's admission merely confirms an open secret in Mexican society, his comments have shaken Mexican politics as the country's major political parties gear up for the 2012 presidential election.

TITLE : Rizzo admite narcopactos durante gobiernos priistas.

Según el ex gobernador del estado, los presidentes acordaban rutas con los cárteles para evitar crisis de violencia como la que se vive hoy en día, lo cual se descuidó con la transición.

I don’t think that Mexico will be able to sort out this mess with anything short of declaring martial law and dealing with these criminals. I fear that the drug trade is so enmeshed with their political system that more palatable sytems of reform are unrealistic.

Of course the .gov controls this mess, they need the War on Some Drugs to further its war against its own people.

I heard the same thing from Maxine Waters, so it must be true.

Another home run for Wikileaks.

It amazes me that so many Freepers want to see Assange hung, yet his website is revealing so much dirty information that FR posters are dying to know.

In the article (in Spanish) Rizzo states that in the past all of the drugs flowed through Mexico into the United States. Now a lot of the drugs are being consumed in Mexico and this explains the dramatic increase in violence. A person would have to be whacked out on coke and meth to cut off heads, kill babies, etc.

Mexico already is, effectively, under Martial Law.
I’ve been stopped by federals and soldiers so many times, I wonder if there wasn’t a declared war that we forgot about.

The army has been infiltrated and corrupted to the extent the Mexican navy has taken over some roles. How long before the navy is corrupted?

This only proves that the “War on (some) Drugs” is being lost at the front lines. American experiences in these things are NOTHING compared to South America. Mexican governors and presidents are cutting deals just to stay alive. Inevitably, they become corrupted by the money. Union money in the US, drug money in Mexico.

So now we know what we have always suspected..who are they paying in the US? Which politician’s are they paying to keep the border porous? Keep in mind that the druggies also control the alien smuggling operations and profit from it.
As for wikileaks. First complaint is that we have a intelligence system that is so feeble that they can’t keep general traffic secret and second is that we do need to keep secrets to protect sources and operations. I could care less if some dictators son gets outed, but I do care if that reveals a source that gets eliminated.

The PRI has destroyed Mexico.

Yet none of the Mexican-American political outfits in this country, La Raza, MALDEF, etc., could bring themselves to publicly castigate the ruling party. I'd say the same for a bunch of Mexican American columnists writing for newspapers here as well.

Absolutely shameful.

“that the druggies also control the alien smuggling operations and profit from it.”

That is worth repeating a thousand times. Anybody who encourages illegal immigration has blood on their hands. That includes Jorge W. Bush, McCain, and countless democrats.

***************************************************************************************************************

That’s because La Raza and MALDEF are nothing more than Mexican elites just like Mexico’s ruling party. They are twin sisters. Both have a VERY vested interest in using the “street illegal” here as a “pack mule” for their special
interests.

For La Raza and MALDEF the street illegal is a pathway to political power through future DemoRAT votes. People like Janet Merguia, who runs La Raza, would piss on those illegals form on high. They are just peasants to her, same
as they are to the Mexican Government.

For the Mexican “Government”, the illegal is nothing more than a peasant sending money back to Mexico to finance its pathetic economy. if it wasn’t for that money stream the Mexican Government could not give a rats A$$ what happens
to these illegals.

The Mexican ruling party is the PAN, not the PRI.

One reason to admit this, of the part of the PRI, is that the present drug war began when the PAN took effective control from the PRI, and attempted to enforce the law.

I guess some in the PRI think they can make political hay by promising to make peace in the drug war by reviving the old policies.

It is amazing how kept in the dark we are and when we get a glimpse of the light most want to put the blinders back on. It would be a great time to reread Plato’s Cave again.

Speaking of former Presidents and the drug trade you should Google George Bush's other "son" and Mena, Arkansas.
