Republicans Sweep Texas!
Texas GOP Vote ^ | Fernando Trevino

Posted on 02/28/2011 6:37:58 PM PST by DallasBiff

On election night, Texas saw three liberal congressmen defeated by their more mainstream (by Texas standards) opponents! Obviously this overshadowed the major gains in the Texas House of Representatives which were far more impressive. While the national election was definitely a referendum on liberal policies and a 2nd chance for the GOP, the results in Texas were clearly a mandate in support of a more conservative Legislature , which could spell trouble for Texas House Speaker Joe Straus.

A net gain of 12 seats in the Texas House was seen as a ceiling for the Texas GOP until election night when an unprecedented 22 new Republicans were elected to the Texas House of Representatives! If this isn’t a mandate for conservatives and a sign that the Democratic Party in Texas is more than out of touch, then I don’t know what it will take them to see this. Every year Democrats say that this is the year that Texas becomes “purple” and/or makes the jump towards being a “blue” state.

Fortunately Texans are smarter than that. We don’t really care what elitists in Washington think of us. We Texans do things our own way and it has definitely worked well for our state. On election night, Texans gave conservative Republicans a very clear mandate to bring some common sense to our House. For the past two cycles, the Texas House has been closely divided and during the last session it seemed like Democrats were actually running the place.

Then explain the 2010 Texas election results.

What about "in ten years" can you not understand? Your constantly referring to 2010 is as irrelevant as was a Californian touting their election results in 1986.

Well gee TV, 10 years ago pundits were saying Texas was going to go democrat, but it hasn't.

Maybe you should go looking in your neck of the woods, as in Wisconsin, where white teacher union parasites, are sucking the life out of Wisconsin.

Just what do you get out of sticking your head in the sand about the inevitable repercussions from the increasingly rapid demographic changes in Texas?

Why do you see this as some personal affront?

I simply suggested that you have serious problems looming in the future and you respond with “Quick, look over there”!

It's his apparent M.O. here on FR. He takes it as some personal insult to extrapolate demographic consequences on Texas. It's really weird.

Yet you are silent about mostly white Wisconsin.

Who is sticking his head in the sand?

Get over ethnicity and start pushing political conservative ideaology rather than being a white Al Sharpton.

I've decried public unions multiple times on FR. What? I have to do it an appointed number of times to your satisfaction?

Who is sticking his head in the sand?

You on this issue, in multiple posts. I ask why? What do you have to gain by ignoring it instead of decrying it? Why is this some personal affront to you? Why won't you answer that?

Actually it seems to be a personal affront to you. Since the GOP did so well in 2010, which you won't address.

Oh, yeah it's been addressed and not just by me to you. We're not talking about 2010. That was last year. Irrelevant to the discussion and you either know that and are being intentionally obtuse or are more dense than can be imagined.

Yes TxDas, DallasBiff wants you to explain what the 2010 election results have to do with the 2020 demographics and voting patterns in future Texas.

Well I guess that 1974 was also last year, when a mostly white California put in moonbeam dem Jerry Brown to succeed Ronald Reagan.

You just don't get it David Duke/Al Sharpton, ethnopolitics does not matter in Texas. We are not California/Illinois.

So the Mexicans play ethnopolitics in California, but they give that all up when they hit the Texas state line? Some magical transformation takes place I guess.

That's the most absurd claim I've heard in a long time. Good luck with that.

None of Texas’ largest cities has such a law, but most major police departments — including the Texas Department of Public Safety — do not check for immigration status, mostly because state and local police do not have jurisdiction to make arrests on immigration violations.

In November, lawmakers rushed to file bills that address illegal immigration, ranging from legislation that would require police to ask about immigration status in certain circumstances to a proposed law that would make being an illegal immigrant in Texas a misdemeanor trespassing violation.

Police officers in the state’s largest cities generally don’t address the issue of immigration unless a subject is arrested.

But even if officers on the street are required to ask about immigration status, they don’t have any way of verifying that information.

And even if someone admits to being in the country illegally, the most an officer can do is call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Police in Texas do not have jurisdiction to arrest on immigration violations.

When I see Texas addressing these issues, I will believe there is hope and change.

Already been done several times for you, but I'll do it one more time: California, 1994, prop 187, last gasp.

Uh but that was overturned by a jerry brown/dukemaijein/wilson appointed court.

Dem/RINO California is not Texas, as you see it, from your liberal paradise of Illinois.

Pfaelzer was the federal judge who issued the injunction. Appointed by Carter. Carter won Texas.
