Republicans Sweep Texas!
Texas GOP Vote ^ | Fernando Trevino

Posted on 02/28/2011 6:37:58 PM PST by DallasBiff

On election night, Texas saw three liberal congressmen defeated by their more mainstream (by Texas standards) opponents! Obviously this overshadowed the major gains in the Texas House of Representatives which were far more impressive. While the national election was definitely a referendum on liberal policies and a 2nd chance for the GOP, the results in Texas were clearly a mandate in support of a more conservative Legislature , which could spell trouble for Texas House Speaker Joe Straus.

A net gain of 12 seats in the Texas House was seen as a ceiling for the Texas GOP until election night when an unprecedented 22 new Republicans were elected to the Texas House of Representatives! If this isn’t a mandate for conservatives and a sign that the Democratic Party in Texas is more than out of touch, then I don’t know what it will take them to see this. Every year Democrats say that this is the year that Texas becomes “purple” and/or makes the jump towards being a “blue” state.

Fortunately Texans are smarter than that. We don’t really care what elitists in Washington think of us. We Texans do things our own way and it has definitely worked well for our state. On election night, Texans gave conservative Republicans a very clear mandate to bring some common sense to our House. For the past two cycles, the Texas House has been closely divided and during the last session it seemed like Democrats were actually running the place.

"Is",that's your strawman. The assured contention is it will be.

No strawman here, but yet you still refuse to explain the 2010 Texas election results, kinda of like the global warming fanatics who refuse to explain why this winter is one of the coldest on record.

Explain what? You don't know how an American election works or something? Did you just cross the Rio Grande yourself or something. What is there to explain?

What is so hard to explain the 2010 GOP sweep of Texas, since according to you it would never happen, such as a 22 seat gain in the Texas House, or that 2 hispanic GOP'ers were elected.

Like I said before on this thread, you should not act like a white Al Sharpton.

You find where I said that and post the quote here. I'll be waiting.

Not one time have I asserted anything other than what the future of Texas demographics hold in elections down the road and you've been nothing but dishonest in holding up the 2010 elections as a rebuttal.

And you know this. Let's stay on the topic of 2020. You have anything about the original assertions, or are you going to keep up the mantra about the irrelevant 2010 which I made not one assertion on?

Your disingenuous moralizing isn't going to have any effect on me. I was over being shamed on these sort of topics 10 years ago.

Texas had it's own 'runaway' Democrats-they paid a steep price in the next election.

Also, the Hispanic vote in Texas is more conservative then it is in other States.

“Yes TxDas, DallasBiff wants you to explain what the 2010 election results have to do with the 2020 demographics and voting patterns in future Texas.”

Since the 2010 Republicans may do something about voter fraud, then there is hope.

You should remember that most Latinos of greater than 3rd generation, the “Land Grant” Tejanos are largely of European/Spanish descent. The illegal aliens are largely of Indian mix. The Latinos do not vote the same way as illegal aliens.

I grew up in an old neighborhood in San Antone and the old Latino families did not like the border crossers at all, as in they despised them.

If we do not get a handle on voter fraud and close the border, then our country is lost.
