ALICE ( Kiii News) - 3 News cameras captured an illegal immigrant bust today near Alice. The Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department had some information that a group of illegals might be coming through... and ultimately, an officer spotted the vehicle they were looking for.
The pursuit began on highway 281 just north of Alice...and lasted for about two miles until the black pickup truck authorities say was carrying a group of illegal immigrants pulled over...and the subjects bailed, and fled into the brush.
The pursuit came to a stop here...where Farm to Market 625 West meets Farm to Market 1554. This is the black pickup truck that was reportedly carrying nearly 20 illegal immigrants. Authorities say the truck was confirmed stolen out of Houston. Houston is also where the truck was reportedly headed, after picking up the group of illegals by the border security checkpoint in Falfurrias.
Captain Odel Mendoza with the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department told 3 News, "what happens is they drop them off right before the check point they go around and the coyote picks them up after the check point, and that's when they start heading northbound again."
The sheriff's department says the immigrants had paid $1,000 a person to be brought to their destination, which they never got to. After bailing from the truck, they fled into the brush. Most got away, but the sheriff's department captured two of them. An 18 year-old from Ecuador, and a 16 year-old from Honduras.
The two young men say they didn't know they were breaking the law, and that there's no economic opportunities in their countries. The men say their families have nothing to eat, that they don't have a place to live

Yeah, I always flee into the brush when I think I didn’t do anything unlawful.

Don’t worry about the ones that got away. Those were just the Hezbollah immigrants.
they are coming here to steal our opportunities from us.
Yeah, I always run when I see the police too!
Mexicans always run like that. I remember 40 years ago a Mexican driving a truck full of melons turned over in a small south Texas town. The driver got out and ran into a neighborhood. I think it is the same way they deal with it in their own country.
I understand the going rate to be smuggled in is around $2000 so these guys got a bargain trip. As to how they pay when they are so poor, that is the mystery. Many pay their way for being smuggled in by smuggling drugs in with them. Some have family here already that will pay their smuggling fee.
Our government has looked the other way for so long and even encouraged illegals to come here, many don’t believe they are doing anything wrong.
Don’t worry abut the ones that got away.... They were just the Hezbollah tourists.
