Daily Mail ^ | March 1, 2011

The U.S. Navy was repositioning its heavy-hitting warships around North Africa tonight as America and Britain dramatically increased pressure on Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi.

The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which had been on pirate-hunting duty off the coast of Somalia, has now steamed to the mouth of the Suez Canal in the Red Sea.

The deadly strike force aboard the nuclear-powered carrier is already within flying distance of Libya but the Enterprise is said to be heading closer to country and its rogue dictator.

We should just stay out of this because, regardless of the bloodshed, it's a sovereign country. If staying out works to our detriment, we can always later bomb them into the stone age.

Anything Obama does now should be highly suspect as to what his real motives are. He may be trying to present the image that he's a strong leader rather than the weak bully he is capitalizing on an unfortunate situation in a little country.

SONOBUOY PING!

Click on pic for past Navair pings.

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

I know that anti-piracy ops are a secondary function for any naval warship, but to task a carrier strike group with the job is just a huge waste of resources given the Rules of Engagement.

Gaddafi’s remarks were met with derision in Washington. “It sounds, just frankly, delusional,” said US ambassador to the UN Susan Rice.

She said Gaddafi’s behaviour, including laughing on camera in TV interviews amid the chaos, ‘underscores how unfit he is to lead and how disconnected he is from reality’.

Let’s see now...what other “great world leader” has been known to laugh inappropriately and appear disconnected from reality? My memory is not so good now but I think I can find his name, oh, wait, here are his initials, Barack Hussein Obama.

Somewhere in here is a play that helps get the Soros Telepuppet reelected. Throwing Sargent Pepper Q. Daffy under the bus is a bold ploy that is seemingly inconsistent with his previous support. Must be the Muslim Bro’s made Bambi a better offer. Amnesty from the threatened apostasy trial? 72 virgin Larry Sinclairs in Allah’s heavenly Man’s Country? Perpetual unending supply of ribs and ice cream for Manshelle?

You're right. That would seem to be more of a "Frigate Navy" type mission. Maybe some air support with AWACS - possibly even, gulp, land-based from our AF friends - to spot likely surface targets. What are bammy's ROE, is the Navy even allowed to approach a suspected pirate ship? Or is that maybe considered too threatening? Is he just trying to "send a message" with "a presence" there? He's real good about just being present...

Clinton would have wagged it two weeks ago.
Many here disagree, but I say this mission is already fully funded by Gadaffy’s seized assets, and the Libyans deserve at least an opportunity to remove this maniac’s boot from their necks.
WWRD? We all know the answer.
