OTTAWA - Are right wing politicians better looking than left wing politicians?
That’s what a group of Finnish and Swedish researchers claim.
The study, titled The Right Look: Conservative Politicians Look Better
and Their Voters Reward It, had 2,513 non-Finnish respondents evaluate the facial appearance of 1,357 Finnish political candidates. The result, right wing candidates were deemed hotter.
Female candidates on the right had a larger “beauty gap” over their left wing opponents than men did. The researchers argued that when the candidates were less well known, such as in municipal elections, looks play a bigger role in swaying voters.
No similar studies have been conducted in Canada but each year The Hill Times, a newspaper focused on Parliament Hill publishes a “Sexiest MP” list. Two Conservative MPs routinely hit the top of that list, Peter MacKay and Rona Ambrose.
MacKay has been voted the sexiest MP in all but one of the last twelve years while Ambrose has come out on top of the sexiest female MP list for the last three years.
Others on the list have been Justin Trudeau (Lib), Maxime Bernier (Con) and Scott Brison (Lib) on the male side and Helena Guergis (Con), Megan Leslie (NDP) and Ruby Dhalla (Lib) for the women
Yeah, but funny how universal it is—it applies in Finland too!

Conservative women are generally more attractive because they were raised to respect themselves, their bodies, and their lives. Ask any Republican woman about their childhood, and you will likely find the common thread is that they came from two-parent households, parents taught them personal responsibility and self-worth, and they were engaged in school and in their communities.
All these leftists do anymore is plop their kids down in front of a TV with an iPhone or a laptop and tell them to sit down and be quiet while mommy and daddy go to the club or toke from the bong.
Leftist iconoclasts are miserable misfits by definition. Ugly by anyone’s definition.

Yes, but that's Finland. I have it on good authority that Babs Mikulski is as hot as Maryland gets.
Anecdotal evidence is that many conservative women are strikingly attractive. Similar evidence is that many liberal women are not.
Perhaps the liberal women don’t do as much with cosmetics, hairstyles, etc. to appear attractive. I think there is a subset of liberals who reject society and beauty standards and all of that.
That’s the first LGILF I’ve ever encountered....
It’s our inner beauty shining through. That, and we’re not afraid of “reinforcing gender stereotypes” by grooming ourselves.
