Except that his grandmother was right; the situation should not have arisen. Girls should not play boys (men) in varsity athletics. It's just not right, for reasons civilized people have understood for 3000 years and more. The people who are pushing this are Gramscian long-marchers and they're doing it to screw up society.

Yes, she may have been right using YOUR logic.
BUT she wasn’t thinking along those lines.
She is of the ‘why waste time keeping score’, I don’t care if ‘my kid’ is fat and faces the wrong direction in right field, he has just as much right to play as anyone else etc etc etc.
Her ‘motive’ is not quite as clear as you put it.
